Finished My ski today

Well My final parts from Blowsion came today in the mail, My single 48 intake manifold and my blingin finger throttle. So i put on my reeds and installed it all and fired the ski up for the first time, started up like a charm, I am stoked to finally have my superjet running. Used to riding a sxi and built this ski over the winter. Unfortuanatly i didn't have time to bring it to the water to test it out but i was able to hot box the garage a couple times with some KLOTZ 2 stroke smoke. Just want to thank blowsion for all the bling/parts, Steve for not being around enough to notice all of his box-of-stock being emptied, all the guys on ebay/pwctoday that listed parts and smitty for the tank strap which i have to pay for by building a tennis court for him???? lol sorry this is just a bit of an excited rant about my ski starting up, must be the 2 stroke smoke that i haven't smelt since last October. :woot: :arms: :arms:

Well, okay since you asked. This is a 95 hull with carbon kevlar reinforcing, a one season old trued/welded crank, and stock 701 61x cylinder with pistons out of the back of smittywannabe's pickup truck:bigeyes: , 62t cases with a single 48 manifold/ powerbomb carb. b-pipe limited chamber, stock flywheel, MSD enhancer, umi turnplate with bearings, roundnose pole with custom bracket from legdragpete, typical squarenose hood mods, scat 9/17 prop with steering nozzle mod for more throw, bilge pump, hood straps, 24/7 footholds/scupper valve, blowsion finger throttle factory pipe alum waterbox, returfed blowsion chinpad, and best of all Targa mats with a little hydro turf of course in the footholds. I had a budget so all the money went to getting the parts needed for the ski and little in the body work/paint. that will be next winters task. i did defoam and used blue dow insulation + 4lbs foam to fill in the leftover gaps. Hopefully i can get it in the water tommorrow if i get off work on time to see how the carb jetting is and if that prop is going to burn water or not. :Banane01: oh yah lots of racing sticker to make it go fast:bigeyes:

well i burned a tank through today and the ski runs pretty good, heres a question or two for you guys, does the Riva Power bomb carb need a resricter in the return line? The ski has excellent bottom end snap and the topend seems clean but if i hold throttle at about 1/4 then goto WOT it revsup a little slow then snaps, i haven't adjusted the carb at all yet and left it at the settings it came from. i also check my pipe to see if it would sizzle and it was hot but no sizzle but the water is still really cold here so i don't know if that is going to affect the temp of the pipe much, and i don't know if that would cause a slight hesitation. i thought that those screws just moved the power band around and not make more horsepower. one last thing is i have a ****ty prop, it is not spinning/ burning water and i don't think a 9/17 scat would be over pitched. If anyone has a few pointers shout them out to me cause i don't know sh*t about tuning. overall i like the way the ski ran, just don't know when the motor is dialed in to its full potential.

oh great, learning to tune on a tricky carb.:banghead: like i said, it felt really good on bottom and top revs out nicely just that 1/2 to 3/4 needs a bit of work. if i am blipping the throttle and have the revs up a little higher and then WOT it, the ski responds instaltly so it can't be to far off....hopefully. thanks guys for the replies i'll try it out tommorrow afternoon.

well i've tried to adjust the carb screws in and out a bit but can't seem to clean up my bogging, it is still clean off the idle but then takes a bit to clear out and snap up to 1/2 throttle and on. everything above 1/2 seems good. the plugs look black and there is now sign of piston port wash on the pistons so it must be rich, b-limited pipe ada head 62t cases with stock cages and boysen reeds msd enhancer alum waterbox.
riva single 48 powerbomb
Main Jet: 135
Pilot:150
N & S: 2.5
Spring: 115g
pop off = 20-22
Any ideas guys, Thanks in advance

im assuming your running a k&n type filter on that riva carb and not a stock arrestor.

im not sure where your popoff should be because i only use stock arrestors, but id try bringing that pilot down to a 125.

DID you get that handle pole off ebay? Looks like my old one.
yellow NJ pole of ebay thats the one.

Okay i was thinking that the pilot was fat, and yes k@n style flame arrestor. i guess i need to buy some jets, thanks.

okay i put a 130 in it today, and sounded cleaner on the trailer when i started it. i'll try it out in the water tommorrow. just going to work down to the 125 and i figure 150 to a 130 is already a big jump for such a little bog, 150 is the biggest for the pilot right? i figure they send the carbs out jetted rich.
