I'm still waiting to hear if the reeds are okay. I ingested a single reed pedal a few years ago and it was very similar issues. Just tell me that they are all present so I can sleep at night...

It may also explain the surging?

When I checked it last week, it was a mist and it would come out of the top of the carb....like air was blowing up from the manifold...even ignited a couple of times. However, when i noticed the plug that covers the hole for the choke plate came unpluged, I plugged it back and the air going in the carb was less turbulent. It came out in a small dribble. I would like to check this again tho with the new jets. Would it be ok to try to fire it up with the fuel in the engine?

I checked the reeds two weeks ago and they were all there. I still dont know what constitutes a bad reed. I know there is not supposed to be any gap in the pedals. There was no big gap in mine, however, when I put it up to a light i could see a VERY tiny one. Probably only big enough to fit a hair in....when I would push a pedal down, I could feel it close a little tighter.

reeds sound workable.

mist is better than dribble.

have you ever had the flywheel off? or reason to beleive its NOT in its proper 'keyed' position?

I start the engine all teh time with gas in it, but how much is in there?

Ill check it again when/if I can get it started. A while back tho...it was never mist....jut dribble. Dont really know how much is in there cause when it boggled down the last time I tried starting it a couple of times....no telling how much got in there. But when I finally pulled the hood and looked in the carb there was bout 2 inces of fuel...almost to the top and past the venturi...I only dabbed about a half of inch up so just with what I know about 1-1/2 inch (in comparison to the carb from the plate to the top) got in there. Should I still try? Last time I had the flywheel off was when I was putting the 61X in it and I'm pretty sure it was in the correct position. I feel like I'm never going to get to ride :banghead: Mouthfulloflake.....when/if i get this thing up, I'm taking a road trip and we are riding!!!

Update.

I replaced the wires and diaphram in the carb...it had 3 pin holes in it. Damn I had fun on that ski!! It ran so much faster than it did when I had my 6m6 in it. However I do have some issues that I need help with.

Issue one

It ran nice but there was still no low end. I wolud give it full throttle and it would accelerate fairly slow. When the ski became flat finally, it felt like a turbo boost. Sometimes it wouldnt take it long to hit what felt like a boost, sometimes it would. I was, however, riding both days in pretty choppy water which I have never done before. I don't think it was because it was not hooking up though...it would be fairly flat sometimes and if I gave it full throttle, it would strain while the nose was high and then be fine when it flattened out. I have a jet dynamics grate and a skat trak 14/17 V prop (think I need a better prop...any recommendations?). Could this be a tuning problem? I ran it at low= 1 turn out....high= 3/4 a turn out. any settings higher than this and the ski would not run right at all. I'm running a main 135, pilot 120, and 65 gram pop-off.

Issue two

What is this milky, creamy stuff in the carb?

Issue three

The little "my-size-condom" looking cover shot off my head when I was flushing it today. Where can I find another one or what else can I seal it with? Better yet....what the hell is this nipple for?

Thanks for all the help guys

the milky stuff looks like fuel/oil mix ( maybe with water?) thats usually from a defective reed petal ( blowing it back out)

the nipple thing is a small water line that goes to the stock pipe.

That nipple blocks that small water outlet from the head. It used to go to the chamber of the stock exhaust system. Go to most any auto parts store and get a replacement vacuum nipple for a couple of $. You must cover this outlet or else water will be spraying inside the bilge all over the engine.

Well...I know my pedals are not broken off or anything, but it does sound like I need new reeds. Especially since I had a fire ball/puff come out of the carb once when the arrestor was off. Tried to tune it today and could not ever get it to act right. I'm going for reeds asap.

I've been doing my research and narrowed it down to either the Vforce Delta 2s or the carbon tech pedals. Some opinions would be great. Should I get the CT pedals or spend the extra cash and get the Vforce? I know that the CT pedals would last longer (plus MUCH cheaper), but is the extra cost of the Vforces worth the extra power?

~Thanks

Thats what I was thinking, but with all the research that I have done, it seems that the Vforces perform alot better in the other areas other than longevity. I'm torn cause I really would like to save money, but I really would like to have that extra bottom end power!! :banghead:

Do you have 62t dual carb cases?
