Finally Finished My RN Paint

Almost finished turfing and still have a few decals to put on. I painted it with Interlux Perfection. I rolled the bottom and sprayed the top. There is some dust and dry spray on the top, I tried to polish it out but the paint is too hard. I didn't want to wet sand it. The paint is a little brighter in person.

Now I just have to finish building my 4mm big bore stroker.

How did you like working with the paint? That is a money color!

My blue paint was getting a little scratched up. I changed the hood, nose and pole so I figured I would re-do it all. I almost like the blue better but this paint is two part and it hardens like porcelin. The blue never did get really hard, it was easy to scratch. I think I had a bad batch of paint. I also wanted it red to match my Blaster.

The two part is real nice paint to work with. I was going to apply the red with a roller but I decided to spray it. With a roller and the darker colours, you have to apply three coats and wet sand between coats to get a good finish.

Yes some of the two part paints you have to sand as soon as its dry the longer you wait the harder it is to sand.

I was down at the marina yesterday looking at the selection of polyurethane's, and found some that is as good as the Brightside, but only costs about $18.50/qt. It is made by some folks who use to work at Interlux, but branched off on their own, and is sold direct to the dealers. I will post up the product info soon, I just don't remember the brand. They also told me that using the epoxy primer is way overkill for most applications, and just to use the regular primer, its about the same price per Qt.. I still may use either Easypoxy or Brightside, depending on the color red they offer, as all the reds are a little different.

Than I might have to go with that this time.
Since all I'm doing is the sides of the hull in flat black I don't think a gun will be necessary.
It's roller time.
