Fiberglass still tacky

Hey guys I just installed some foot holds and when I went out to check the glass there were some tacky spots. It has been a week now and it is still that way. 99% of the resin is cured but what should I do about the random spots that are sticky? Just mat over it?

Did you epoxy or poly resin????

Sounds like you didn't mix at the correct ratio, or didn't mix the parts together thoroughly enough.

all you can do is remove the soft stuff by scrapping or with acetone and re-do it.
don't lay stuff on top as it may never dry.
you could try some heat lamps on it for a little while to see if it helps as well.

epoxy as well as polyester resin has a shelf life. It's slow curing if it's old.

If its thin spots you can mix a hot batch and go over it. It may or may not work.
And by hot batch i mean heavy on the hardener.

You didn't mix well enough. Bummer. I always mix until I it gets really uncomfortable on my wrist. 1-1:30 min.

that happened to madmatt and myself doing a repair. we measured it correctly and mixed it really well and it still stayed tacky for a month. we basically came to the conclusion that it was bad epoxy.

stick some cardboard over your tray and stick a space heater in there. It will cure.

yup..i was making some molds with some old polyester i had..it took a month and a half to go off haha

get it off if not dry in few hours its junk
