In case its not obvious the rub rail has to come off..See what it looks like then. Is there damage to the lower hull? Can you get at the spot from inside at all?

I understand the rub rail will have to come off. Its broken thru where both the top and bottum hulls meet. You can see right thru looking at the top.

Are you being sarcastic?.. I was only trying to give you some help on laying glass. If you need disassembly instructions for a rub rail? You're on your own

Easy..sounds like a little misunderstanding to me. (I also first thought "pics would help", meant "please show us some" rather that "here are some..")

.and justin you need to make quotes look like quotes or it gets confusing.

Ya, it looks like it was a misunderstanding. I didnt use the quotes right it looks... Sorry about that. Im still wanting to know products, Some steps to follow, and if I have to repaint the nose what to use ? Thanks

i like west systems epoxy kit, it's more expensive than the uscomposites stuff, but i got mine cheap off ebay, i've never used the uscomposites stuff, but from what i understand, it's pretty much the same thing.

1st method of attack, grind out all of the glass that is damaged. then feather out the edges for a few inches so the epoxy can get a good hold.

if you can get to it from the inside, rough it up in there and put the cloth on from the inside a few layers thick. i'd use a heavier weight cloth. paint the surface where the cloth will be on the inside (if you can get to it) with the resin, put your cloth on it. dabb it on with a brush. make sure the are no dry spots on the cloth, (that means there's no resin in that part of the cloth)

on the outside you could use cloth or mat, to fill in and give strength. after that dries, sand down the excess and us an smc filler or a 403 filler or something like that to get the body smoothe.... for paint....i'm a rattle can guy. have a paint dept mix up a rattle can that'll match and call it good:biggrin:

i really don't know much at all about this, but this has worked for me and we need more stuff to add to our search!!

Ketsair,
Thanks for the reply! I'm going to give this a try in the next few weeks. Anymore info would be appreciated. My biggest issue is going to be making that hole in the front strong and getting the sheets to lay flat while applying.

well, i don't know how this is going to fly with others opinions, but i had a big ol hole on my 440 in the nose, i put packing tape on the outside so i had some thing to galss and epoxy against from the inside, then when it was hard, i just took the tape off sanded the sticky off and filled it in :wall:
