factory dry pipe for a b1 surf ski,low end?

was wondering how well a factory dry pipe would work with a freestyle setup for a blaster1 in the surf, the ski will be 100% ocean use,and needs alot more low end? do these dry pipes sacrifice low end more the midrange or help both low and mid?

Dry pipes rip!..... but for a ocean boat I would not recomend it! When bashing in the surf they are known to come apart, where the elbow fits to the chamber....

The B-pipe limited chamber would be my choice, the chamder lays nice in low in the hull, so that you have alot less likely chance of it coming seperated..... its the most reliable pipe out there for the B1. imo

The Mod chamber will free up some more RPM's, but for surf you dont need it... only if you wanted to build a race ski..... and here again you may end up having issues, and possibly even crack a cylinder, as it wraps up over the motor.

I don't recall anyone posting anything good about the blaster dry pipe. If you have it, you might as well try it. But if you don't have it, definitely look for a B pipe!

it has worked fine in my ocean boat for well over a year. but i am running the gp 760 dry pipe and mounted it well.

I have one of each for my B1, But have only used the B pipe Ltd.

The Pro`s all seam to run dry pipes.....Is this just because of the high output motor they run ?

Can`t really be bothered to try them all ( Gaskets & time ) I had thought the Dry pipe was the way to go, But now i`m not so sure.

Really looking for overall improvement. But can you still get a really good bottom end hit from a dry pipe.

That dry pipe does move around alot and touches the hull, like cracker said.

I also think it's mostly for mid range pull and not low end brap like we want in the surf.

Now I`m confused......Web site describes a dry pipe as having " Snappy low end" ?????

There is low end to be gained with the dry pipe. It's just not as great as what is found in the B pipe and there are significant gains in the mid-high end. The guy that had the dry pipe in his B1 down in NC was surprised to know the B pipe had better low end. It was obvious he thought I was nuts from his response.

The best thing you can do is save your money for a B pipe, no question about that in my biased opinion.

Lee, How did you plumb your`s, I have most of it sussed.

It`s the 1/2" hose they call an exit hose, The blaster 1 doesn`t have this hose so do i block it of at the chamber or add another pisser ??

I too am building it up with the GP760 pipe, Any advise or tip`s

Cheers Dude.

1/2 " hose?

i have dual cooling on my boat. i have 2 pissers as well.

if i remember correctly, i have both lines going into the manifold, then one coming out of the head going straight out. the other comes out the front of the head and into the pipe, then out the pipe overboard.

tj moved the mounting points on the pipe down about 1". one is mounted to the front of the head via bracket and the other is mounted to the flywheel cover via another bracket he made.

Thanks Lee, This is the pic included with the GP 760 pipe. I marked the Line in question In red, I`m not sure what to do with it.

It`s called the " Stock 1/2" exit line" in the instruction sheet, Of course the blaster doesn`t have this.

Should i block it off, or feed it to another pisser. (The exit on the chamber that is).

Next pic is the lump it`s going on to, Your Triton midshaft is up the back BTW.

Cheers for the info.

the red hose should be going over board to a pisser. the picture has it running back into the head. that is where the pipe drains out.

i have another cooling line coming in from my pump on top of the manifold.

DUDE !!! how much was that head ?? I just love the looks of them !!

Cheers Dude, Kind of thought that but better to check......

It`s a ATP Black head. I`m not using the bolts as it`s a Protec Cylinder and there`s no room to get them in as the walls are so thick. I get all my stuff from Chris @ Atp here in the UK.

The dollar rate is against you guy`s at the moment, But Chris wants to break into your market and will help out were poss.

Tell him Sean said your were to get discount ...LOL.

Thanks again Lee, I fear there may be more questions....

Idok, Your right, That`s what`s going in. I`ve spent all this afternoon trying to fit it.

It will go, But need`s mounts moved and made up and to be honest i just want this boat back in the water.

Thanks for your help Lee, I now understand what you ment about lowering the brackets. If i don`t the steering bangs the pipe. Did you Fab up new brackets or cut and reweld the original mounts.

A job for next winter i think. Rather do it right than just clash it together.
