Factory B mod pipe help.

I'm curious, ran into some small problems installing my new pipe today. First of all how the hell do you tighten the top inside bolts of the exhaust manifold??? I even grinded a wrench down and still couldn't get it to eliminate the play in the washer. just too damn tight of a fit.

Also, I'm running a stock 08 with Wam's air filters, and this B pipe w/ carbon mod chamber. I don't have any needles on my stock 38's to adjust... Anyone know anything about that?

I got the pipe on and everything about 90% done with the install just can't get that damn top inner left bolt to sit tight with the washer.. I definitely don't want to risk a exhaust gas leak etc...

Here are some pics, I'm going to T off that chamber pisser line and put a valve on the stinger line as suggested in another thread.

Soon to come - Footholds/Turf ought to be fun.

Go to the hardware store and buy a bolt that matches the others but has a allen head on it so you can use allen wrenches makes it alot easier.

actually it will be impossible to get an allen in there. I have never had an issue tightening those up. made a ground down wrench to fit it. that bolt may be too long, better pull the mani and make sure it will go in that far.

the stock 38's have tamper proof caps over the screws, you have to carerfully drill out the brass plug and pull it out. you may want to get some longer screws with the t handels for easier adjustment.

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
either take some off the bolt if it needs it or maybe add a washer so it tightens that way... and then the tamper caps are gay... best thing I can recommend is just drill a hole in the tamper cap with a drill bit about 3/4 the size of the plug... then use a drill bit a size larger and it will prob. catch in the hole you previously drilled and strip the remainder of the brass tamper plug/cap thing out... worked like a charm on all 4 of mine.

PM oldskoo... he might buy your old stock waterbox off you... not sure, but maybe...

Grind down the wrench and get them as tight as you can with blue loctite and you will be fine.

Nice looking ski!!

Thanks guys, anyone got any idea of jetting settings for stock 08 + B pipe? I'll most likely take it off and remount it. I grinded a wrench down but it just bent after trying to get the last few threads in. Yeah I know they're all the same length, which is why I'm concerned this bolt won't go all the way in. I'll end up just grinding another wrench down and cutting that bolt down by 2-3 threads.

Thanks again for all the input. really helps out to get ideas from different perspectives. That's why I love the X :D

you sure its straight? going down even? i have never had a problem there. i use a socket and an impact gun with no problems. try a quality thin wall socket. hope you didnt cross thread it. call art at jetworks about your jetting, he is spot on everytime. drill them caps out and put t handles in there.

Nah I stuck that box in there when I got my Pipe. Oh man matt you're gonna ride a whole diff ski next time you come down man, I'm puttin footholds in + turfing the whole ski with diamond mold. swapped out the steering for a UMI setup, still doesn't want to throw quite as much as I would like her too. If i got the funds I wanna get a new Head/domes and run a little more compression than stock. Got a new impeller. Wish I had read up on the Hooker from impros before I got the skat. We'll see how she rides with all this stuff done. then I'll know where I want to go with it. I'll get around to posting in the ski buildup or my ski threads sooner or later. I want to reinforce the ski, but I think i'll wait till after Daytona or if I got time in December when I'm not riding as much I'll do it then. You'll definitely have to chill longer next time. I've got some Skunky funk that goes great with Tiger woods 09:439:

i think the factory pipe site has recomendations for jetting a stock setup on 38mikunies. also have you rode with the new skat? and did you like it better? i would think the larger hub of the 08 would be hands down better for your setup.. also if you would like to get of the stock 08 prop i'll come by and pick that baby up,, i'v been wonting to try it out for awile. good luck with everything :)
