Ethics question

I am sure I am the last person you would ask, but,

If you cannot purchase the part new from the original supplier, then ethicly I would feel just fine copying the part to it's original form. I realize the company, 24/7 may or may not be in business anymore, but the way I see it, he is not producing the hoods and therefore they cannot be bought right now.

produce away.
what if he's just suspending operation and starts making them next month?

that would be baaaaad. but then again, who would buy from him and who would trust you would actually get the product? It's a tough call. I feel there is enough evidence proving Mark does NOT have the molds to go ahead and make more, sooooooooooooooooooo???

someone owns the molds. more than likely who ever owns the molds rightfully owns them and should be the person who makes the parts.

DO NOT SPLASH SOMEONE ELSE'S HOOD.

if you think it's a great hood, make your own version of it and sell it as your own, but don't pull a mold off of someone elses work.

Lets just pretend the person holding the molds will never make a hood with them? ? ? ? I think this is going too far and it is not that big of a deal.

Remember Maros is still in the marine business. If he was never paid if full he might get the business back and could start making jetski parts again. It's a long shot but strange things do happen.

Darin- take a pic of that muff or draw it up I may be able to make a similar part.

The hood- well I think outright cloning is wrong, but it never stopped anyone from ripping a copy and modifying it til it was changed enough to not be a copy. you will still be hard pressed to make it the same quality without some practice(for a newb) so it is not really as easy as it seems.

making a mold of a stocker and then modifying it to be what you like about the SR hood is the safest but hardest way to go.I would think if you were gonna sell em that contacting Maros and seeing what the deal is would be the best first step. at least you will get an honest answer.

what ever you do , make it your own.

I agree. I have the capability to build both the silencer and hood (production) but would prefer make parts that aren't exact copies of someone elses hard work. If I had more time I'd make a similar hood to match my new topdeck. (mental note: build a new hood mold)

Steve George gave me and some friends from Guam a tour of his facility back in 95 during the World Finals, very cool guy/place. It's a shame they are gone.

i lost an 66e motor when he died. I mailed them one back in 01 and they were making an adapter plate for me to install in a superjet, but after he tragically died my motor disappeared and no one there could find my motor. So if anyone involved with jetcraft is still involved with that silencer, i say make it and @#$#@ them.

i never was good at those ethical questions

I know I have seen about half a dozen different copies of their adapter plate to put the 650-750 into a 550 hull, guys seemed to have on qualms blatantly copying that design.
