Espn2 - Give me a break!

SUPERJET-113

GASKETS FOR CHAMP BRAP!
Here is a example of some stuff on today:

2007 Bud Light USA Rock Paper Scissors League National Championship
2007 World Series of Poker presented by Milwaukee's Best Light
Hot Rod TV
The World's Greatest Fishing Show

Why cant they throw in a 30 minute freestyle/freeride National comp or something?!?! It's so lame the things they call a sport these days!!!
ESPN2 and other channels that are suppose to be sports channels have followed suit like MTV basically! WEAK! Cant we get back to basics!

I know poker isn't really a sport, but if theres nothing else on tv worth watching it is pretty entertaining, but that rock paper scissors is a joke, lmao I can't believe they actually show that. And who doesn't like fishing or hot rods? I do agree that they should show some jetskiing though.

I thought that RPS competition was a spoof when I saw it, than I found out it was legit and I wanted to call and cancel my cable no sports on espn
no music on mtv and nothing extreme on Fuel

but I guess some people are into poker as long as its on a 60 in hight Def

If you guys really want to see some coverage of freerides/racing/freestyle comps then write them a letter and MAIL it, couple that with a phone call and if they think there is enough interist then there will be coverage to match that interest. All ESPN wants is money, they'll go where the audience is.

Seeing crap like that on tv angers me too, but complaining about it or writing letters isn't going to accomplish anything. As soon as people realize we are the red headed stepchild of "action sports" we can all move on.

Racing is waaaay too boring for spectators to watch, we have 1000 classes most other mainstream sports have 2.

No venues.

Minimal factory support.

No money.

More people know "Pancake Pete" or "LBE" (absolutely no offense guys) than riders who have traveled the world, won competitions, been in movies/magazines for 10+ years like Darin Anderson or Xan Sampaio etc.

With that said.... This sport is my life, if jetskis ever get banned in the surf I'll F'n move to Bali. Motosurf is the answer to all our problems. 2 classes, freestyle, ESPN coverage, and non stop action.

you hit the nail on the head right there...almost...

unfortunately for us, networks that are air these shows are (for the most part) doing so because of money...and we all know that the kind of money needed to secure timeslots on said networks is more than most want to throw out right now in the jet ski industry...

change happens...slowly...

the best thing we can do is to continue riding at our local spots, travelling to the freerides and comps...exposing more and more people to what we love...get more people riding...more people producing top notch videos (hint, hint jerry:biggrin:) so that you have something to show people who might be skeptical...

has anyone noticed it seems like there are alot of people coming around now to "the darkside" and getting into stand up riding again? i take this as a positive sign that we are all doing something right for our sport and lifestyle...we just need to keep at it, and have fun along the way...

I keep e-mailing fuel tv and have yet to hear back from them. Chris is right on the money, these things just take time. I mean look at how big MX is and it still does not get that great of coverage on espn. It seems between gay azz baseball and football seasons they just look for 'filler'.

Excuse me, but baseball is not gay. As much as I love jetskiing, baseball is my first love, and I like football just about as much. Baseball takes just as much skill and practice to be good as freestyle, but I do agree much of the stuff they show is filler. I mean damn ESPN repeats sportscenter all night and morning long on weekdays. Then they show first take 2x in a row(used to be cold pizza), and they show as best of mike and mike in the morning just a recap of the 4 hours radio show not to mention all the gay events that aren't even sports like RPS. Most of the shows are full of absolutely clueless "experts" too. (AKA Skip bayless, ric bucher, peter gammons, jim rome, I could go on forever)
