Hi all,

It may seem silly to some but maybe important to others, but what is the deal with epoxying the inatke ducts on 2 stroke reed engines? What is the idea behind that?

Thank you

Andrew

Building Devcon aluminum epoxy ramps in the reed cage finger area on the 62T cases increases the primary compression ratio and helps in getting the fuel mixture up the transfer ports quicker for increased throttle response.

Filling the intake manifold crossover with epoxy helps to promote an improved signal to the carbs for more precise tuning.

Here's a picture of both.

we always filled those in on the damned pjs pp intakes. what was ever the point of having them casted there to begin with?

First 2 pics I get, the other 2 I do not.. what was changed?? And thank you for clarifying that...

Another question: is there any point of epoxying something on PP engines (such as 550 kawi)?

only when you're heavily cutting a cylinder, and need to reshape the ports.
