Other epoxy primers other than awlgrip

I also am very interested in this product mainly because the price is reasonable. What i cant seem to figure out is if the hardner is included for that price. It says its a 1:1 mix. Maybe i missed something???

EDIT: Nevermind now i see the hardner under "required parts". Sorry for this useless post.

Maybe "USELESS POST" should be a button like "THANKS", this way we can keep a total and see just how useless some are! lol

I didn't realize it wasn't the kit either. Still $90 is a good price for 2 gallons of epoxy primer. Is the up232 and up233 the quart versions? If so, $37 is a great price for 2 quarts of that.

Good info jeastes. I'm pretty naive about paint technique. I wanted a primer to use in place of the awlgrip I had used previously. I failed to give a good enough scuff to the awlgrip and had some bad paint separation on my bottom deck. The awlgrip is great stuff and the price represents that fact. I was hoping to save a buck and still find a product comparable. Summit has some other primers I need to do some research.
Can u provide some info on the differences in primers? Sanding vs filler vs sealing primers? I know the all have a special purpose but made the "ass"umption that in the end they all do the same thing.

I got busy this weekend and decided to forgo running up the Summit store...it's about 50" away. I went local and got the 2part Rustoleum primer that I can spray with my gun. It's a high fill primer and should be easier to sand than the Awlgrip. I really like the durability of the Awlgrip though. I had tons of scratches and paint separation on the bottom of my Freak, but the Awlgrip was still tough as nails. I had about 4 deep gouges that broke through to the gelcoat so they required some heavy sanding to make look right. I'm gonna hit it with 2-3 heavy coats of primer and let cure for 24hrs (a little cool here in Ga today - 50's) in my garage, then hit it hopefully tomorrow evening with some paint. I was disappointed my paint decided to separate from the Awlgrip and I'm certain it was do to my poor scuff sanding prior to paint. I only sanded in one direction with some 180/220. In retrospect I should have cross-hatched my sanding with some 150 since my starfire/metallic hides alot of the deeper sanding lines. Live n learn should be tattoed on the side of every ski I own. Might make it my sig.
