engine problems and black spark plugs

It felt like my ski wasn't hooking up at all today and was at half power. I think i may be running on one cylinder, but not certain. The rear spark plug is also all black near the cap. I took both plugs out and they seem to get spark, so i am stumped. I have no idea why the cavitation occurred, it may just be because of the lack of power. Installed a worx201 intake grate today. Noticed that the small spot between the ride plate and intake wasn't siliconed up. It that necessary? Could a bad stator cause all this stuff, because when i let off the gas a bit it seemed to go a bit faster.

black top spark plugs mean your plug boots are fried and it is arcing in the boot.
Cut back plug wires and put on new boots
install new plugs and see if that fixes the problem :fing02:

It took a half hour just to get out of the parts store with the right plugs. I tell him one thing and he brings me back the wrong set. I eventually had to go get them myself. And of course they didn't have plug boots. But i have the new motor, and every part i need except gaskets, and the plug boot(s). Anyone have a good source for these parts local. Gaskets i need are reeds for wet jet intake, wet jet gasket between the carb and intake, and exhaust all for a 61x. I can't wait to put the motor in.

thanks for the help i am still a :newbie:

I'll hit the good parts store tomorrow and see what i find.
