is there any thing on an engine that says what it is? I got a kawasaki engine and the guy said it was from the same ski I have (440) but he does not know anything about skis. would pics help anyone tell me?

That motor looks like a small pin dual carb 750cc. Not from a 440.

well i sold a 73 vw bus that need to be restored for $650 + THE ENGINE + free icecream. the guy said it was out of the same ski.he also said he is going down in a couple of weeks to get some more drive parts and possibly the hull :biggthumpup: it was not part of the deal but he said I could have it so we will see. so will that fit in my 440 hull or is there another hull I should keep an eye out for, or both.

My 1994 750ssxi ( sitdown) has a grey engine, with dual carbs and a green head like in the pic.

I beleive it to be a small pin engine, with dual carbs from the factory.

small pins have 10 reeds bolts big pins have 12 reed bolts

That was my belief up until recently too. As Mouth stated, I had a 750cc dual with the gray motor which is the small-pin. The large-pin were green.

its a pretty common swap actually.

there is special adapter plate required I think.
and of course you will need 750/650 electronics.

yep, that sure looks like an early 90s 750 SS xi engine ( sitdown)

it looks like a saltwater beater though, still better than a 440 engine I guess.

sell it all, that 750 engine is probably worth a fair amount of $$$,. use the $$ to get a superjet.

I know it sounds like terrible advice, and a huge decision, but im saving you money longterm.
