Ebox troubles, 98RN, Pro-tec CDI settings

Pulled the ebox appart to see whats going on in there, found a Protec mod CDI, no idea how its set but its all the way clockwise. Also the voltage regulator has a burnt wire (red) going to the battery battery cable, it also says 6m6 on it ?? As Im sitting here, I found the ground and hot wire are toast going in to the regulator, no way to repair it.

The regulator has stayed the same from 1990 to present.
How burnt? That's where main power from the battery connects to. Check this carefully.

Its bad right where it comes out of the main cable, I will cut that off and put it on the start relay terminal when I rewire. I need a new regulator, the wires are toast all the way to the sealed part.

Talked to Pro-tec, they said all the way clockwise was 10K rpm, anyone confirm this?

When I talked to Protec they told me when the dial is turned to about 3:30, that is just about 9,000 RPM give or take. So with the dial all the way over clockwise, that might be 10,000 RPM.

Thats what they told me as well, with the little notch pointing at 12 o clock. I just wondered if anyone else had the same info. It just seemed odd that it goes from stock to 9000 in 1/4 turn, and 9000-10k in 3/4 turn.
