Super Jet ebox idea, kinda silly

only silly in that it will be completely incompatible with existing skis without considerable modification. Some day and if I had the money... I'd like to build my own ebox with quick connect surface mount waterproof terminals for all connections except for the plug wires and battery leads and install a 4s2p a123 battery pack in the ebox complete with charging leads. I'd use a box like this:

so that the charging leads would be easily accessible after popping the lid. A connector like this but hours of research and days of testing would be required to find a suitable part:

3 of the waterproof plugs would be needed, Ignoring Overheat would leave a 5pin for stator, 4pin for start/stop, 2pin for bilge. Plenty of reasons why this is a crappy idea but the weight savings and reduction of failure modes would be great if done properly, I'd talking 10+ pounds over a stock setup via swapping the lead battery for lithium and getting rid of one high current battery cable. The box would be removable in under 5 minutes and water intrusion inspection would be done with a simple glance at the clear case. So again to recap external features required: bilge power, start/stop, stator, starter +, starter-, 2x spark plug wires. Mounting location and method would be a tricky problem too.

thats what im making for my msd make sure its a water proof box and not a water resistant had to go to west marine for mine and they have all diffrent sizes

Laserman on ozfreeride.com made one out of an otterbox simlar to yours for his total loss on 1000cc XFS.. its the cleanest EBOX i've ever seen.

He also has diagnostic LED for each component in the box so its an easy change out... the guy as an electrical engineering freak.

Not silly, but really only needed for tl folks. A stock box with weaterpacks or duestch connectors are just fine for stockish setups.

John at Jet ski solutions has been making a similar product to this for a while now. He mostly makes them for racers who are doing the 1100 conversion in there SXR's (Which require three spark cables for a three cylinder motor) but he can fab up just about any custom set up you need. He's already done the homework with connectors also.

He can also modify a stock SJ elec box so that it can be removed with out pulling the engine like the one pictured.

Also built my latest version of my custom elec box, compact and easy accessible for component changes and I also built two so if I have any probs just swap it with the other one in like 5 minutes..Im also designing a diagnostics box that goes inline between the connector with clamps onto the spark leads, this diagnostics box will tell me spark ok/nogo and strength, signal ok and levels from pickup, signal and strength between ignition and coil.. So I can instantly tell what component is faulty..This will come over winter though I think. got a lot of circuit board designing to do...Pretty cool, elect box, battery and mount came to only 3.9kg!

Those and a MSD version would sell IMHO. Especially with the diagnostic box and mount.
