Dual 48mm Novi Maxiflows...couple of questions

So I picked up these dual Novi 48mm's, on a port matched R & D manifold.

I currently run dual 44mm OEM Mikunis on the same type of Manifold.
Jetting specs for those are 95g/2.0/112.5p/122.5m

Motor is a FS ported 61x @ 82mm, MSD TL, VForce2, ADA head w/35cc domes (soon 33cc), and B-Mod.

I would really like to try out these Novi's.
Would they be good for my application? What's everyone's opinion of the Novi 48's? Good setup?
How would I jet these? Similar? I have no clue...help me out please.

Also, what do these go for ususally, used in mind condition? Thanks.

I think I'll just sell them. Some searching the board shows they may be a bit oversized for my application.
Besides, I want to ride, not wrench.

Going up for sale I guess.

Really? I am using those Riva 48's, R&D manifold, v-force reeds on my magoo ported 701, ported 62T cases, b-pipe w/ mod chamber and enhancer. That set up rocked for me! On the Riva's I used 2.0n/s, 115g, 135m and 120p.

Matt_E, If you want to use them for freestyle riding the first thing to do is call Novi (or send them) and get new throttle valves (butterflys). From the pic's I see that they have been beat on the edges at the throttle shaft, as you can never get the jetting right (idle quailty) when you have a leaky plate.
Make sure you re-shim shafts as not to bang them out again.

Thanks guys...I'll probably go ahead and get those throttle valves replaced before I sell them. On second though, since I am already going that fair, I might as well at least try them.

Matt_E, also check the main bore diameter with an inside caliper if you have access to it. I think they may be 46's. SUPERTUNE gave me a tip that when looking at 46 and 48 Novis side by side, the 48's have a very shallow recess across from the D booster. In the picture yours appears to still have a lot of "meat" in the bore.

The reason that I am pointing this out is because with Novis, if you measure at the base, both their 46's and 48's will measure 48mm, but in the main body, they differ by 2mm.

If you do have a pair of dual 46's, they would likely be optimal for your setup.

The jetting above was not what's in there. The seller may not have known what he was looking at.

It's at 65g/2.3 (15psi), 140P, 130M

I was using 2.0 n/s, 115g, 135M and 120p on my 48 Riva's. My buddy was using 1.8n/s, 115g, 135M and 122.5p on his 48 full specs. Both should get you close for your motor application. I am anxious to hear your concusions

So measure it where....at the throttle valve?
I should be able to just remove the throttle valve and measure its diameter, right?

Totally different carbs, you can't compare jetting between different setups like that.

That is why I gave him the jetting from two differnt carb setups. It is not an absolute but may at least aid him in getting in the ball park range of where he needs to be. Jetting is test and retest deal anyway so no suggestion is going to be ideal.

Joe said measure it about the height of the D booster for a true diameter.

Doug

Yes, if you have inside spreaders/calipers you can reach down, set them, then measure on a ruler/gauge.
