dual 44 sbn on a 61x yea or na

Hey guys after i get my stupid stuttering problem fixed on my 701 SJ im going to be slowly building my ski up for a BB 771cc build. i wanna keep my 61x bottom case. i was looking on parker yamaha and found a all aluminum dual intake mani for the 61x, heres my question can i run dual 44s on a stock bore with just a protec pipe, msd enhancer and a westcoast head, until i go and put the BB sleeves in.

Thanks
Jim

Yes you can, they have been used successfuly on stock 650s as well. Its an expensive mod for what you get IMHO. They will wake up the pipe a bit but don't look for much in the way of peak power/speed over your stock single.

it might just be that yamaha redesigned the motor for dual carbs...not dumping on you Jim.

you should stay single carb on the 61x. A good aftermarket 46mm on the 61x is great improvement for less money. Then switch cases and add one more 46 when you switch over.

I have a full 61x bored (case and cylinder) .50 over. ported, lightened flywheel, msd enhancer , b pipe(mod) and dual 44's and it rips harder than any 62t I have ever ridden. I would def. recommend putting dual 44's on. it was a giant improvement over the single 46 that used to be on it.

Really see now this makes me wanna do the dual 44 then BB to 771cc or maybe more :)

I'm sure dual carbs will make more power than a single but the point is dual will work better on 62T cases. If you're going to spend the money, you might as well spend a tiny bit more and take full advantage of the dual carbs.

Just to throw a wrench in the works... i have a 771 lamey with a single novi-tec 48 / riva intake, it rips and was so easy to tune, turned the adjusters for 3 quick rides and done. call novi-tec, tell tim what your BB will be and he'll build you a correctly jetted carb, you won't regret it.

cost less than duals too.

here is another wrench in the mix. i threw a pro-tec dual 38mm intake manifold with my superjet 38's on my 61x blaster. also added a protec pipe and a lightened stock flywheel but i would say the carbs and pipe is what really woke the ski up. i used the same jetting that i had in my SJ with a factory pipe(135 main, 75 pilot), just lowered the popoff from 115 gram spring to 80.

if it gave the blaster a bunch of brap i would think the difference would be much more noticeable in a lighter superjet. i say go duals. they aren't much harder to tune than the single if you are worried about that.

cool guys im kinda new to the ski thing but not to engine building and fabricating but i love my ski its the funnest thing on the water. but if anyone has more things to throw in here
