I still have the Slippery Sub-Zero Drysuit I bought back in 99. Awesome suit and very durable. I started having problems with the seals a few years ago and had both wrist seals replaced at a dive shop. I tore the neck seal the last time I wore it so I haven't used it in awhile.
Not sure how much I'm going to use it now that I live in SC. A good 3mm wetsuit was usually enough to keep me warm up North too, the drysuit was just extra insurance.

Something worth recommending for any drysuit (or drysuit seal) shopper are booties as apposed to ankle seals. Not only are ankle seals a beeach to get on/off as compared to the booties, but they also allow you to wear socks. This is HUGE when riding with the ice cubes!

Couldn't agree more, that is what sold me on the Slippery in the first place. My buddy had a BARE and was trying to convince me to buy one but after wearing it once and suffering with frozen feet, that was enough.
I wear wool socks with a single thin layer of microfleece long underwear and I sweat my ass off. I am usually soaking wet at the end of a ride just from sweating.

Ha, I have a old Jet Pilot dry suit.......it is probably 15 years old. It leaks like crazy. I finally just cut the ankle seals out last year so the water could flow out the bottom. It used to pool up in the legs. Nothing like an extra 20lbs of water weight to wear you out. I just wear my wet suit under it and still stay warm.

I have a Yamaha dry suit that seals around the waist, like the old Ronny's Rollover suit. It was a great investment over 10yrs ago, and still is like new.

I had a Slippery Subzero Drysuit for a while. It was alright, but I just don't care for drysuits. I can't stand the neck seal.
I sold the drysuit and bought a nice quality wetsuit. I've used it in 36 degree water, 30 degree air without any issues and without getting cold.

When you only have a 4-5 month riding season a dry suit is a worthy investment. I'd get a 6 week jump start on the season and could extend it by 6-8 weeks depending on when the lakes froze over then switch over to river riding for a more more weeks until the ice flow backed up and blocked the ramp.

Except that pissing in a wetsuit like that isn't the best idea. Nice quality suits keep you very dry (mine does), so I am leary about pissing in it.

if you aint got gore-tex you aint got shizzzz,lol just joking.But super light weight gore tex dry suits with booties built in that dont restrict you and you dont sweat in rock. wear a 200 weight polartec liner underneath and cut the neck gasket down so it feels no diff than a wetsuit,use a 1.5 mill sealskin cap under your helmet.5 mill ti lined surf boots. Add hot water hand warmers plumed into alum bar and drill the grips so the water comes out between your fingers with reg thin motox gloves and it will trick you into thinking your summer riding,untill you get splashed in the face...lol
