Dry pipe alignment

This is for all you dry pipe guys.

I was blowing couplers quite often. In order to get my pipe to line up properly.I had to slot the mounting holes for the lord mounts, and bend the lord bracket that bolts to the engine cover.

Do you guys do this also?

Yep, plus I had to cut the stinger and reattach it.

That was on my Speedwerx freestyle dry pipe.

I removed the couplers, lord mounts, etc and dry-fitted the pipe. With the flange mated up flush, I slotted the brackets to match the lord mounts and the stinger was actually touching the hull, so I chopped it off and reattached it at an angle to line up better. No problems after that.

I was luck.

My first and second Speedwerx are perfect....

I just got another brand new (left over from a dealer) and it looks ok too.

NO the speedwerx are all crap... My old pipe didn't line up worth a hoot so I just rode it that way and replaced couplers once a year if I was lucky and it lasted that long. Then I traded for Darins pipe but I kept my manifold and had the same problem. So this time I took the motor out and installed the pipe I sloted the holes clear through the mount so that it would just slide on and you didn't have to go up and over the studs. I used washers to space the pipe higher up off of the rubber mounts and used thick washers to hold it all together. Manifold and pipe touch perfectally now. Over a year on it with just a piece of radaitor hose instead of the silicone coupler and it is holding fine.

I had to slot out my SW dry per Big Kahuna. It works really well now. I still use a double coupler and I also use a small sea strainer. This pipe clogs super easy.

I bought this ski with a Factory type 4 and it had a broken lord mount and a ripped coupler. I also bent the new one that went on.

What is a strainer? . . . .You talkin 'bout the water injection?
