Drive shaft compadibility?

I picked up a blaster hull off one of the St Augestine guys this winter and already had a VXR Pro for a doner boat to get the blaster running. I haven't had a Yamaha in a long time and need a little help figuring out what I need to get for driveshafts. I don't know if either of my driveshafts are usable out of the VXR. Does that mean I need a bearing housing to go with them as well or can I swap out my driveshafts and use my old bearings if they are good?

Here is my new hull after a little love:

if the vxr has a 701 (vxr pro) the housing will be the same, I don't think the mid shafts are the same though.

blaster midshaft = 94-09 SJ midshaft

Sweet Pete!!! Looks like the old square on roids:biggrin: I've been wondering what a modified Blaster bottom with a SJ topdeck would be like. If you run this one in the ground you can lay it to rest next to the square in my jetski graveyard:smokin:

I hope that all my hobbies will keep me from focusing all the abuse on this so it looks good for a long time.....A blaster bottem deck with a sj top deck...that is the first time I have ever thought of that combo:Banane13:. Why don't I build an X2 with a Blaster bottem deck???

Bye the way this will have an UP trim for surf riding and bar dragging turns :woot:

That is a front sponson also known and a tubbie, Blowsion invented them but this isn't a Blowsion. It is an XL version of their race tubbie made for X2 hull originally but it is getting tried on the Blaster hull. It makes it turn better.....I hope.

Any chance the VXR Pro motor mounts are usable to me in the Blaster Hull?????

I don't know if you've looked very closely at a blaster hull but it's basically SJ hull with giant sponsons on it, now you put sponsons on that. I'm curious to see what they do for you.

The problem I always had when I would ride a blaster was I wanted it to lay over hard like my X2 without lifting the pump out of the water but it never could. When I put sponsons on my X2's or superjet it alway sunk the pump in the water more when the hull was on edge. It is like when you are just standing in shallow water in front of any jet ski and you lift up on one end the other end actually sinks deeper. One of my favorite things of my X2 was it would carve cricles with one end of the handlebar dragging in the water until you were dizzy. The traction and G-forces were pretty neat. I don't know if I can make a Blaster drag the bar in the water but I am going to see how close I can get.

Check out the super clean 701 I got out of a $500 VXR Pro:

good deal on motor, i think you might be the first person to try tubbies on blaster, you will have to make a video of you riding it, tubbies made my x2 handle much better than stock, what kind of pipe are you going to use on blaster, we went with mod b pipe we are really happy with it

the paint job looks sick!! I wonder how that will handle with the tubbies!!
Looks like its going to be a great ski when you are done!!

... I wonder how that will handle with the tubbies!! ...

i'm thinking the exact same thing. i just picked up a blaster and have some tubbie II's here for my octane that i think might fit. my friends and i have been thinking about this for a while so i'm excited to hear how this works for you.
