I had been doing that trick to end my routines for most of 93 - 95. We had it down pretty consistently. It still wasn't enough to beat my local nemesis - Bobby Biggs, or any of the other top amateurs at the time (Malone, Mullenax, Chris Camps, Rikiki, etc.)
I'll never forget my 1995 World Finals routine. I had a good run going and at the 15 second horn, my wingman lofted a high, long one. I pinned it and screamed across the water to run it down. I timed it wrong and it bounced out of my hand. I couldn't believe it! I could hear the crowd let out a huge "AWWWWWWWWWW!!!!"
I got 5th that day.
