I shipped a hood to cali via UPS and I think it was 52 bucks

Look down at the Shipping and Handling section of the listing. The price you are looking at is for UPS 2 day air to your zip. It should also show an estimate for UPS ground that is closer to $50 or $60. Description says to contact the seller for a shipping quote.
