I've always been a fan of diesel engines. But something about diesel and jet ski just don't go together. . . Where's the BRAP?

. . . . they used to have some 2 stroke diesels . . . the Brap might turn into . . . BRAP ! ! !

It's amazing what they are doing with Diesels these days . . . . . a Diesel powered car won both the Le Mans and Sebring 24 hr. races this year ! :bigeyes:

Dont think it will make it in a SU but maybe a sitdown. Looks like the auto industry is changing. I wouldn't mind having a clean, quiet diesel in my ride but I don't want to have to buy a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck just to have it. They need to make one for the half ton truck/SUV so we can still retain some semblance of a ride. Here in SoCal, the frickin expansion joints on the concrete freeways will knock your teeth loose in a F250/350.

I'll see if I can find something . . . actually they should be refered to as "2 stroke diesels" rather than "Diesel 2 strokes".

Didn't know they were still in production Rickster, I thought that they were old school. Might make finding some info that much easier though . . . . .

They are used in the container Mules in the ports... I will see if I can find out the make of the engines, as a container yard right across from us just purchased 10 new ones.....

ive got a diesel truck right now, and i love it. The one thing about putting a diesel in a stand up is that you have to make the blocks overbuilt and rugged to deal witht he compression pressures, the mercedes 250 D 4 cylinder runns with 400 lbs of compression, and diesel MUST have 180 lbs to even start to burn... thats why diesel blocks are so heavy

and with rpm's ending at 4000 (thats unusually high, VW's end at 4000) (one of boats ive worked on has a Detroit Diesel 2-Stroke that runs at 1800 RPM) there would need to be some serious gearing done to get any top speed at all

Ford puts a small diesel in the rangers down in south America....and jeep just started making diesels for the liberty didn't they?
