In 1965 Orville Redenbacher and his business partner Charles Bowman came out with Red Bow popcorn , it was not well received so they paid Gerson , Howe and Johnson advertising company $13,000 to come up with a new name, the new name was of course Orville Redenbacher's gourmet popping corn and the rest is history , so if you are ever feeling stupid ,just remember these guys. $13,000 was a lot of money back in 1970 .
