D-cut questions

Right now I'm running a riva groovy ride plate and it hooks up a bit too much so I've been looking at getting a stock plate and cutting it, or possibly even finding one thats already cut. I have a few questions first though.

Would it be worth it for me to just try and d-cut the groovy?

Is there a preference in terms of cutting a stock plate even with the back, then putting a D in it, or do most keep it stock length, then cut the D in it?

if you have an oem plate i would just d cut that. if not i would probably cut flush and then d cut...but you can d cut it extended and see how you like it, you can always cut it after and shorten...a lot easier then ADDING it back. lol
trial and error on that one seems the best bet. its all a very personal preference kind of mod.
with that said, cut it flush and slash a big d out of that thing.

actually...9.42" circumference...only a half circle unless you count the flat side making it 15.42" perimeter.

I personally wouldn't d=cut an sxipro. The nose rides too high on those allready.

i just cut my stocker today, i used a ban saw it was pretty quick.

i used a gallon paint can to mark the cut. as for cutting it, I used my plasma cutter. took all of 5 seconds :nana:

The idea of the D cut spawned off a fish tail surf board. D cut is just a uniform style. You can cut it anyway you want. Once I get my hands on another FX1 ride plate, I am going to try a swallow tail cut and see how it handles.

I've got 3 marks on my shins like that. All were actually from hitting the back of the tray or steering nozzle and not the ride plate... I think it'd be kinda tough to stab yourself with the rideplate. Not calling you a liar, I just can't imagine how you could get into a poisition to only hit the rideplate when there's so much other stuff blocking it.

This wasnt a mark as you say. This was a deep puncture wound. It was a pretty long extended plate tho. I would have a hard time believing this deep of a puncture wound be caused by the back of a ski anyway. :wink:

Don't cut the groovy, it is too weak. Doesn't take long before it gets a bump on it from the plate getting pushed against the pump.
