Hehee....I am just glad that it was a dumb riding maneuver that took out the engine, instead of a dumb motor assembly maneuver.

Meh...this is "only" number three.
Number one seized due to a dumbass cooling routing
Number two sucked a screw through the jug
Number three (now) hydrolocked.

That's not too bad.

I"m only in 2 complete motors and a few top ends/domes. I'm still using the second motor (well, I will when I put the latest top end in). the near stock back up motor just works to well to take out.

Now see....I bet I spent less than that. I bored & got pistons the first time, complete topend the second, and now it's crank (75 bucks!!!), hone & rings.

BTW, that's the damage for this round. One crank, and the cyl needs honed, and new rings.

well after an electrical nightmare I notice I had a blown crank seal, replaced that (not expencive but a lot of work) and when to daytona. There I sucked up some salt water, thinking that I still had CDI issues I left it alone and locked it up solid.

motor one - done.

I bought gimp rocks ported 800cc 61x. he told me to bump up the compression. I bumped it up to 180 psi and fried the pistons and domes.

top end one - done.

Since I'm lazy I cleaned the motor up as best I could without splitting the cases. I missed a big piece of ring which bounced around a while and trashed another piston and dome.

Top end two - done.

I put in the 3rd top end and did a pressure check found a leak in the rear main seal. while tearing appart the motor for another rebuild I broke the coupler 3 times.

The motor is sitting in my office partially disassembled right now and has been for a month or two.

I should have a crank by tomorrow (Thanks Phill!), and rings and a base gasket.
Cylinder honing will be done by the end of today.

I have a crank that looks just like that Matt. About 6 years, one day I was doing multiple bulldogs and it just died. Sucked in just enough water to get on top of the piston and bam, bent connecting rod..
I've never seen a battery do that, only while running.

Yeppers.

Going from the SXI with a stock hood to the SJ with the 247 hood. I could not beleive the difference.

I have almost sunk the SXI in much smaller surf.

The new hood pretty much let no water in the hull the whole time I was riding it. I was very impressed.
