Super Jet Coupler gap is to large…ideas?

Last year when I removed/installed my engine I had no problem with this gap. The shop manual gives a spec of 2-4mm. When I pulled my engine out a couple weeks ago I noticed that the gap seemed a little larger than what I had previously set it at. I didn’t think much of it b/c I had been jumping waves at the end of the season and figured it just shifted forward a little bit. While the motor was out I did pull the engine brackets off to paint. When I put the motor back in I still had a large gap (8mm) and my motor is set back as far as possible. Any ideas how to fix? The coupler feels tight on both ends (engine/pump) no slop; stock coupler

If you can afford to give the midshaft and drive shaft a little space you could pick up a cf midshaft spacer to bring the midshaft a couple mm closer to the motor. Or get a coupler spacer like the rrp ones to move the engine side coupler closer to the midshaft coupler.

never hit bottom. motor is as far back as the bed plate will allow without enlarging the bed plate mount holes and there is about 8mm gap still. Not sure what caused this. I will have to look into the coupler and mid shaft adapters.

hard tail landing could have allowed it to shift enough to press the mid back a few mills.
you should probably check your drive shaft to.

mid shaft got knocked back into housing. Take mid shaft assembly out and press the shaft back to spec. Check drive shaft splines for damage.

Adapters not needed, the shaft needs pressed out 4mm at least....spec is 2 to 4 mm coupler gap....also 20mm of shaft remain on rear or hidden side.

My mid shaft has shifted back also, and I have about 1/2" between the couplers when the motor pushed as far back as it will go. I've been runing it like this for years with no problems. Not saying its the wisest thing to do, Maybe I've just been lucky. Stanton high posted an easy way to fix this on facebook. He simply wrapped a hose clamp around both couplers and tightened it until the mid shaft slide out to its correct position. I can't think of any reason this method won't work. He said it worked pretty good, maybe he'll chime in and post a pic.
