If you get any water in the hull it could kick it up enoupgh to get sucked in the carbs

when you have water inside the boat, the spinning coupler makes it a fine mist and the carbs will suck it in.

The coupler cover also assists wires, tubes, lines, etc not getting tangled in the couplers themselves if they were to ever come loose.

there was a guy that was having a problem with his 550 stalling out and bogging when he playewd on the hood and threw it around and stuff. He later narrowd the problem to the water slinging around and chokin the carb with water. He also posted a video of it in action on u tube i belive. :biggthumpup:
