cooling problems on sn sj w/ 701

So I bought a 61x dropped it in there and have an extra port on top I guess for duel cooling, I rebuilt the motor over the winter cuz it was tired and now want to go a different setup. I was thinking of putting a restristor in the second port, near the flywheel side and run it to a pisser (stock there isnt a visible pisser) any thoughts? I am afraid it got hot last year and may have speed the motor dieing process up. Well I know it was hot cause the rubber tube from the stinger to the waterbox melted throuh the hull...

The last time I ran it noticed alot of water so I went to shore to discover hole in boat...(september)

Any help its a 93 sn with a 61x from a blaster with new pistons

By the way i am just a rec rider nothing serious just like to mess around

Oh yeah it never ran that great from day one, seemed like it would bog then just randomly haul ass across the lake then bog then haul ass then bog then haul ass, you get the idea

if you have one line supply from the pump i would personally tee the two outlets exiting the head back into one and continue it on to where ever you have it going. on mine it would be the bottom of the head pipe. now in the middle of summer i keep an eye on engine temps. If the motor is running too hot then you may want to add the restrictor and dump it overboard.

I dont want free flow out to a pisser for fear of over heating the motor again and spending the rest of the summer rebuilding... or stuck on the 550. I dont know what caused it to over heat because I dont ride that much or that hard in a 70 degree lake... (compression was good just light scoring) so I did a hone and a new top end

do you think you pipe overheated or the motor, i see you have the overheat sensor installed so is that what you meant by hauling ass then bogging? if the motor is overheating you will want more water flow to help cool it. i run a restrictor on my second exit to keep more pressure on the first exit that supplies the pipe and my flow valve. did you check all you hoses to make sure they are not plugged or semi plugged.

If you're talking about having a second colling line out of the head...I just plugged mine since i am only singe cooling. Never had any problems at daytona. :ugh2:

I think motor was on its way out when it was running good then bad then good then bad, if you messed with throttle it would run awesome for a minute then bog then run awsome then bog usually till you let off throttle. I enjoy the minute this thing runs better then hours on my 550...

I have no idea what over heated. I can find very little info on this pipe so I dont know much about it (has PSI stamped in it) think it was made for the 650 but is what i got for now. was thinking about the b pipe but I dont want all the headaches that come with it esp if I am not that serious a rider, (water injection, changing out jets??, screws on the pipe?? ) would love the power but I dont want to take a 2 year course on the dam thing, I just want to ride.

as for plugging it thats my 2nd thought, but I would like to see flow

Hoses are new now, except the one coming from the pump...will blow in it tomorrow when I pull pump to install the new impeller..

I had the same thing at the end of last season. I pulled my flywheel to find that it had been contacting the stator. I don't know what went wrong, it was fine before. Sounds like very similar symptoms to what you are describing. Let me know what you find out.

I really like my b pipe. I had to replace one screw that was bent when i got it. No more headaches alto more powa. If you don't want to take a two year course or have headaches i suggest you find a different sport fast and sell the ski.:pokey:

As for it running funny I dunno what was going on will see if it does it now after rebuild, I got a new coil pack (my wires have been trimmed a few times to many) I thought maybe it was coming loose,

Also when I pulled flywheel I saw something had done a little damage to the magnets, I knocked off the burs and cleaned up the inside till it was clean (looking for the culprit) but never found it... if it still has a random go attitude I guess the carb is next (I checked it out when I first installed it and it was clean on the inside I pulled the little screen and little screws out and no rust or old gas...)

Its funny when my 650 was in it, it did the same thing(two different carbs), when i got the 701 I changed out cdi and carb, but keep the same stator and flywheel, humm.... just connected the dots, if it runs bad next weekend I am ordering a new stator.

Now that I think about it his wires are pretty bad and have electrical tape from one end to the other so that was probably the problem... I heard they can break up inside and gives you intermittant sessions

yeah i needed a new one too. If that happened...the contact of flywheel and stator couldn't we assume that the crank is fawked? that is what i came up with when it happened to me. but get a new stator asap and you should be running mucho better.:newangel:

sorry what i ment was something got in between the stator and the flywheel magnets like a piece of metal of somesort, I think it went away because at 4-7k rpms if the flywheel would have hit the stator there would have been serious carnage in my little area. mine was only a scratch..

it sound like more of an electrical issue now. but still make sure of your cooling, gotta find out why you melted a hose. JSS can rebuild that stator like new and give you some real nice connectors to make removal a little easier. keep us posted.
p.s. B-pipes are way better and have little maint. change a couple jets and it will be the last pipe you need to buy.
