Computer help

I am looking to get 128 MB Ram for a Dell Computer.
Intel Pentium ® 4CPU 1.6 GHZ
1.59 GHZ, 128 MB RAM
Running windows XP home addition Version 2002 Service pack 3
This is what comes up when I go into my computer. Yes I know it is old.
I am getting ready to do my taxes and it says I need 256 Ram to run it. Where can I get the correct 128MB Ram for this computer. I know I have one or two slots open. Do I need to pull the memory to give you more info? My company is closing down next week for a week long furlough so I am trying to get my taxes done, plus whatever is assed to the honey do list.
Thanks for you help.
Doug

i have 2 128mb ram chips here that im never going to use. One is a pc100 and the other is a pc 133 i think. Not sure which one you need but if you can figure it out its yours for free, just pay shipping which would only be like a buck i think. Actually dont even worry about shipping lol. You can just have it.

PC3200 was the last version that will fit that board. It may not run at full 400 but it probably will. If not it will just clock itself down to 2100 (266).

If it does register as 3200....your machine will fly compared to how it used to be.

Not all PC3200 clocks down. If you buy 3200, you'll know that it wont' clock down when your computer won't boot.

And FYI, with that small amount of memory, you won't notice a difference between the speed of PC2100 and PC3200.

Kingston generally does clock itself correctly...and I am 99% sure it will run at 400 anyway.

And the speed difference between 2100 and 3200 is like night and day. It will literally appear to be wayyyyy faster to the user....assuming Windows is set up nicely and does not have a bunch of stuff running for no reason.

Agree to disagree.

But just as an FYI, I have worked on and repaired over 3,000 computers. The bulk of which was when double data rate was released.

I worked on about that many a year......for 10 years. All through SDO, PC100/133, DDR's blah blah blah....Slowin down a tiny tiny bit now on all the BS work and focusing on custom builds only.

My goal is to build 2000 new PC's.

Do you work at walmart, or the dell assembly line?

Neither. I worked for a company called Qualxserv. I was the on site hardware warranty provider for all Dell, Apple, HP/Compaq, IBM/Lenovo laptops and desktops over a 100 mile radius from Cleveland. I put 225,000 miles on 3 cars over 10 years.

I basically just drove around all day ripping stuff apart and putting it back together and testing it or ordering more needed parts to get the customer up and running the next day.

LOL. I even ripped apart Packard Bells back in the day.

I also currently have 112 custom built machines in place throughout the Cleveland area. Thank God they rarely need support or I would have to hire someone to help at this point.
