I wish I could make this event!!!!! Sounds insane. 3000 miles is a costly trip to convince the wife into lol.

I really think Pete should be selected though. Not just because I'm friends with him, but because he goes HUGE!!!! When he is out practicing, he has people on the beach, fisherman, other riders, even couch riders, stopping and watching. Puts on a hell of a show, and pushes his limits on every ride. I bet he would even complete a double with the adrenaline rush from being there. And it wouldnt hurt to have an east coast presence there :cool2:

But anyway, sounds like a killer event and I too would give my left nut to go there, but family and work come first. Good luck to everyone competing and GET SOME VIDEO!!!!

Ride hard, put away wet!
curious

has anybody read the equipment requirement rules?

has anybody read the judging/scoring criteria?

I am wondering what others opinions are on this area of the competition.
Please give opinion without putting down the comp.

I noticed that you have to have a stock hull (modified stock ok) and stock stroke. sounds like there trying to keep someone out with they're total custom skis.

I talked with Joe & Taylor about the motor rules in Daytona. I like the concept. It Levels out the playing field. Using an OEM hull puts the point further home.

I have just completed the motor package for Taylor. He is running it now. I designed a new porting spec to put the powerband where a surf rider most needs it & staying within the 760 rules. If these type contests take off. This could be the motor of choice.

The judging is the only thing I really question. I don't feel you can be totaly impartial with only 3 judges. I feel 5 would be a better choice.
I just returned from the nationals. The Amature judging came into question with 5 judges. It was by far the best judging criteria I have ever been a part of. But when it's a judged event, a judges scrutinity will always come into question. 5 would definately be better than 3.

I know all involved put heart & soul into this event. I hope you are on to something! Look foward to being there to spectate.

Okay - I'd better clairfy that real quick as I KNOW how warped you guys are....NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO BEAT ON MY VAG!!!!!!!

You CAN however eat my cookies, nibble on my brownies, lick your fingers after enjoying my BBQ...and beat on my ski.....the rules are, you break it, you pay for it, and it runs on Trick 110 or Sunoco 100 with Redline ONLY....so you gotta buy your own fuel.

Which is conveniently located at several suppliers very close by =)

Cookies!! I'm there!!

Also to clarify. I wasnt trying to flame anyone. It was a play on words showing my frustration that there were no east coast freeride unlimited riders, hense F/U. It should be a great event and I'm trying everything in my power to go. So does anybody know how much it is to ship a 6 foot 190 pound box to the west coast with UPS:sneaky:

There are 16 slots and more great riders than that

In the Last few years Freeride has come into its own.....
There are more great Freeriders out there today worldwide than 5 years before at the Red Bull Wave Bash.

Yet this competition is looking for THE BEST TALENT.......
Its difficult to be decisive here.
What do you prefer to see? How are the submitted riders qualified? What is the Measure?

Many of these riders have been measured in competitions of the past.....They have some sort of track record......from which to judge.
Of course you have to take into account the fact that Local guns are going to be there.....Home turf does have its advantages!
That is not to say that these riders gain favoratism by being local..it means that they are able to be judged on talent that is in the faces of the event promoters weekly...talent that matches up against some of the Worlds best.

This is an invite event and an experiment in judging criteria....with 16 pilots some people....some of the best......EVEN Westies will be slashed!

You guys....this IS NOT a POINTS IFWA event and its designed to Showcase the Best of the Best. If you think you measure up..get out to ride and get to some comps.
This sport is under EVOLUTION and is still in its infancy right now.
WE wish it were perfect but its not.
Many are trying their best to make something out of what little support we have now......with the momentuem that it drives hopefully we will see a Sanctioned IFWA event next season back in the USA(in addition to SS) ...where all can attend.

TEEEEs Right....Its going to be one hell of a kick ass time and there will beSome that are left out......yet Freeride to most is about a family of friends regardless of Talent...Lets try to remember that.

There is a good deal more to being the Best than Going Huge.......
Trust that it has been extremely difficult for the Promoters to make selections.
But the Field must be choosen.
Some feel left out......its an unavoidable reality. Lets hope that we can gain some good coverage for additional sponsorship for future events.....
Marc Sickerling is in the group considered but left out......I'd say that even the alternates and those applied not selected are in an elite group by default!

Best of Luck to all the Pilots and Lets not divide our sport over this coastal issue. Come on out if you can and help make this event better by participation!

If you think you measure up..get out to ride and get to some comps.
That's a slightly unfair statement.....as this is the only US freeride comp this year. It's tough to get to comps, and get numbers under your belt, when the only comp of the year is mostly off limits.

Hell, in the last 3 years, how many surf comps have there even been in the US? Sure, some of the old hands have results and mag shots and foreign competition under their belts....but part of what is stifling this industry is the lack of new blood. There is little to no incentive to up and coming riders.

I'm not saying that your event is where they should have their chance to shine....just making a point.

This is a competition??? I was just going for some freeride time!!!

J/K...about the not knowing it's a competition...Seriously, though, I was looking at it as a fun weekend freeride with some really cool extra entertainment in the down time. Yeehawwww!

Ride hard, put away wet!
Several people have just sumed this whole weekend up. Its all about having fun... that is the definition of freeride. This comp should be seen by everyone as extra entertainment to a weekend that has gone on for the past 3 almost 4 years with everyone attending in the past saying it has been the best/wildest freeride weekend they ever experienced. Lets make this one even better than the past.
