Clean '95 SN Value?

Ok gents, some advice please. I want a spare boat so my girl can go on rides with me.

There's a '95 Square I'm looking at that I think I can get for about $2000.00. It's pretty clean, all white, sano engine compartment, tray's in nice shape, all stock except for a B-pipe. Let's assume that it was jetted when the pipe was installed, although I don't know if it was. Assuming that the battery, compression, impeller, etc are in good shape, is the price right?

Should I take the seller's word on the compression? (I'm not too worried about it). Anything else I should look for beyond a visual inspection?

I know this isn't a new question, and I've done some homework with the search, but $2k is still a lot of cash for me to drop right now, so thanks in advance for any input.

run it and if it rips, buy it. I would try to get it for around 1800 or less if possible.

I'd like to get it for 1800, but the dude is asking 2500 OBO for it- I'm assuming that I can talk him down to around 2 geezles, but we'll see.
Looks like a test ride would be the best way to determine if it's really a runner, yeah? I was thinking that if it fired right up and sounded ok, I'd buy it, and take my chances with the jetting being ok. Bad idea?

if he dont come down to 2 wait a month and get something wayyyyy better. Something will come along for the same price with more goodies, its too late in the year for them to get top dollar for there ski, there are too many people bailing out for the winter that need cash... I have seen a couple rn go for 2k in the last month let alone 2500 (both on a trailer and stock unmolested)

Thanks for the input gents. I'm not in a hurry, so it looks like I should look around more or drive a hard bargain. I do like the idea of getting a clean RN instead, just because I like the look better, and don't care for the SN handpoles. On the other hand, I do like the idea of getting a clean boat with a B-pipe on it. Ahh, decisions.
