Changing Mix Ratio SXR

I have ran about a 55:1 mix ratio in my 800 SXR ever since I have owned it. The only engine mods I have are a timing advance plate, flame arrestors, and a re-jet. My buddy is going to be getting a Superjet that the guy has been running 40:1 ratio in it. We have usually pored out of the same can for both of our skis in the past but the mix ratio was similar.
I was considering changing my oil mix ratio closer to 40:1 for convinience and for a higher level of protection for my motor, but when I flush my ski out in the drive way it spits out way more black crap from the exhaust compared to my 550's and 750's already.

My question is, how will this effect my ski? Should I even consider changing my mix ratio now, after the ski has been accustom to the 55:1 ratio.

I split the diff-I've been runnin 44:1 since day 1 in a mild limited SXR. Still got hone marks in cylinders after a bunch of hours on it.

Well I pretty much knew that running 40:1 or close to was okay, but I just wanted to know how it would impact my machine since I have ran 55:1-60:1 for over 3 years. Is changing the mixture bad?
