Let me just say that I never want to do this ever again. EVER. I swore so much while chipping that thing out. I tried to take my time, and not fck up an fiberglass. I was pretty much unsuccessful in that department.

Here are some pictures taken with a shty camera phone. I'm going to try to get some better pictures of the rest of the process tonight.

What kind of adhesive are you using for the new shoe? I used this stuff called Duramix #4186. It is an smc panel fuser. Its been in there 2 years with no problems.

Never had a problem getting one of these out, i scored mine down the sides with a stanley knife, little tap with a rubber mallet and out they come

I tried that on my '95 Blaster. Nothing. I am using a scraper:

Well, lets hope I don't have to deal with this again to try your method .

My new pump shoe is in and good to go. I wish I had taken more pictures for reference. This whole process was a LOT of work because the superjet pumpshoe is not the same shape as a blaster pump shoe. The triangle "fingers" on the blaster are longer than the superjet, so it required lots of filling and fairing. Regardless, I enjoy knowing that I won't have to do it again.

I have to lay some glass on the bottom of the boat this week (I can see the glue for the motor mount bedplates through the bottom), so I will get some pictures of the final filled in shoe.

Jerry, did the same **** 2 months ago. broke that POS plastic mount and had to chissel (more like destroy) everything to get it out. Also put the SJ alum one in. Not fun either had to grind the sides down and fill the pump bore to fill the voids.

I think i may have a little cavitation from changing the shap/size of the tunnel pickup too. let me know..

My old pump shoe came out in about 25 pieces.

I actually had to do very minor griding to make the pump shoe fit. I just took in the glass a little on the sides. I also had to grind a little on the inside where the intake grate sits because it didnt' fit.

I don't have any noticeable cavitation issues though. The ski hooks up great with my stock prop. My fairing could have been better, but it seems to be working just fine.

me too

i put a jd superjet aluminum pump shoe in my 94 blaster .i grinded on that thing for ever with the wrong tools. it helps hooking up because it hands alittle lower

Update to my experience. I began thinking I would cut away the green epoxy with a utility knife and a scrapper. Do not bother, it will take too long. Also, there are voids in the plastic shoe that fill with epoxy.

I used a hack saw and cut away the large pieces of the plastic pump shoe. I DID THIS VERY CAREFULLY and did not cut into the hull. I then used a small crow bar and flat head screwdriver to chip away at the rest of the shoe.

When I do this to my SJ, I will flip the ski and use a grinder (or even a Dremel) use lots of discs and meticulously grind/sand away at the plastic shoe. May be extreme, but I would rather spend my time grinding away at the plastic than do glasswork.

The bottom of the shoe is now gone. Have the top thin portion to do. The other side looks the same except there are no chips, well nowhere near that big.
