Custom/Hybrid Change trim method on GP800???

I have GP800 that I'd like to change the handle based trim system which lets you trim the nozzle up or down to a lever style that just trims the nozzle downward.

Problem is the two cable, handle system has two bearings in the handle which keep it in the selected position (up, down or neutral). When the two cables are disconnected from the handle the trim nozzle flops around like a drunken teenager.

Anybody know how to modify this two cable system to work with a lever style trim and allow the nozzle to remain in the neutral position unless the lever is pulled and trimming the nozzle down?

You replace the 2 cables with a single cable on the correct side, and replace the twist grip with a lever. Some company, I forgot which, sold conversion kits.

It's not a complicated thing other than trying to find a good enough cable that will hold up. The lever is just a left handed brake lever.

Looks like you'd want a stop to prevent the trim from going higher than you want and a spring to hold it at the stop...
Exactly!!! Right now with no resistance, the nozzle flops all around. I essentially need a SINGLE cable from the lever to the trim ring. The single cable would disallow it from traveling any further in the upward direction.

Or... If I had some kind of coupler to connect the cable from the lever to the funny rotating device mounted just above the pump tunnel *refer to original pics.

In your picture, looks like the bottom cable that you want to use. Take the top cable off. Maybe you can use a long bolt with a couple nuts and mount it where that cable was so that the head of your bolt is the adjustable stop against the stainless bracket on the plastic wheel. Then spring goes on that same side, from the end of the stiff cable to the stainless mounting bracket.
