CF Steering system snapped

So I nosed in a flip in the surf on Saturday. Not a heavy landing but anyway my steering system bolt snapped taking the steering cable out with it. Luckily I was not injured.
Anyone else had similar with these steering systems?
I've had it repaired for free at work so just a new cable is what I need...phew.
By some miracle the bolt and nut stayed in the tray when it snapped even though the whole ski was under water.

I've snapped a couple UMI studs before and so have some others in my crew. We drill out the stud and run a stainless bolt up through the center.

Is that the older design?

CF has upgraded the design with the pro model redesign which features a much larger center bolt area.

A few guys I ride with have broken the old version which is what you have, I've had both the old and new version, the new version which appears much stronger and it includes the locking nut which I haven't had to retighten since I put it on my ski 6 months ago.

I'm pretty sure it's the old version. Comes with a locking nut also.
I've got the feeling it may break again now, I'm not sure if I should buy a new one.

thats the old version. new version is much more beefy. you can ship it back to carl and he can press in the new stud
