cdi hook up question

im trying to put a stock cdi back in an e-box that had a msd enhancer in it to check if stock cdi is good. i have connected all wires that are the same color and have a pink female wire and a black male wire left over. what is my major malfunction? all other colors seemed to have a corresponding wire to plug into.

im sure this has been covered many times but tried searching to no avail

yes temp sensor. Don't worry about it, its unnecessary.

thanks! makes sense cause this e-box has that removed. didnt think of that

just trying several spare cdi's laying around, and i have one out of a xl700 that is stamped 62t everything plugs together except the white/red wire is female on both the cdi and ebox ends. it sparks with out those two plugged together. what is that wire?

Sounds like your trying to use a 62T CDI in a 61X ebox. The ends are different, however you can just make an male to male adapter to test it.

Msd usually comes with a jumper wire to make up for that. Like the last post said, You can make your own wire to test.

yeah 62t in a 61x box. how do i make the adapter? i tried thinking of something i had laying around to just stick in both ends, but would never admit to some of the stupid things i tried

i would just like to run this engine and see where i am at with it. wouldn't be a long term deal

since it sparked would it hurt to run it with them unplugged? anyone know what the white/red wire is? seems to go to the stator

I just made my own with two male bullet connectors and a piece of wire for testing purposes.

that seems very logical which is why i would not think of that
