Stator came loose, broke 1 wire and destroyed my flywheel.

I think I can fix the stator wire but the inside of the flywheel looks like tin foil peeling off of a magnet and there were metal shavings mixed with oil everywhere:banghead:

The whole inside of the area looked like one of those birds the news always shows after a major oil spill:banghead:

This is due to the fact that the epoxy in my ported cases did'nt hold up.:frown:

I'm just gonna try and find another lightened 62t flywheel and put it all back together and ride it till winter.

This winter I'm sending the cases to Paul for what will hopefully be the last epoxy job. Either that or I'm just getting new cases.

Can ported cases ever really be PERMANENTLY epoxied or will the need redone every couple few years no matter what.

Dude, that sucks. Are you sure the flywheel is toast? A couple chunks out of the inside shouldn't hurt it, should it? As long as the teeth are good? Post some pics.

I am out for the season for sure. I'll be down to film...

I may try and clean it up but it looks like crap inside the flywheel. I just found a chunk of my stator plate cracked off too:frown:

At least with my current set up getting in there is a piece of cake!

Battery, battery tray, gas tank...done.

Even with a full tank it was easy.

Man thats what I would like to do. Ya know any expert case welders?

Its really just the hole/holes going into the flywheel area that I would like welded.

Are the cases Aluminum or Steel. I know a good Aluminum guy in NR. He has done stuff for Florio and I and he is cheap.
