Here's why we strap down loads. I was broadsided on Monday coming back from a place near Ottawa called Arnprior when the guy in the oncoming lane passed out at the wheel and carved into me. I had enough time to get the truck on the shoulder and he slammed me so hard that I was told the truck went airborne. I landed on the passenger side in the ditch and almost rolled over if it weren't for the safety chains on the trailer. In the back of the truck was a 200+lb steel part I was returning to my shop to be reworked, but it was well strapped to the skid and stayed in the truck until the almost rollover. The skid broke apart when the truck rolled onto it but the straps kept the wood still attached. I was also pulling a tandem axle trailer at the time, the axle that blew off you'll see is bent, the driveshaft blew out of the rear end of the truck, and the Reese hitch doesn't look much like a hitch anymore unless I were to tow something upside down lol. Unbelievably everyone walked away at the time. The car that hit me was a tiny little Audi...totally unreal.
