But the horizon (background) stayed the same? And he was checking the camera after landing. Gyro twistie thingie release mount?

You can see that before and after the roll the camera stays fixed with the pole/rider (like immediately before and after, without him touching it) I would say it was an editing trick.

I sent a message to Max through Facebook asking how the roll effect at 30 secs was done. I asked if it was special camera mount. He said "Sorry for my bad answer but I don’t know how he did exactly, I know he work hard on his computer". He also said to message Charles Dasher. I just sent Charles a message through FB.

From Max's response it doesn't sound like it was a fancy cam setup. No matter how it was done it was very cool.

From what it looks like to me is they cropped the video (notice that it zooms in). Then they rotated the video at the same speed as the roll. Since it was zoomed in the aspect ratio didn't change when sideways. Just my guess.

That is my theory too. If they didn't zoom in there would be black popping in the corners.
