i have a new 62t stator section and a oem intake duct
also have used in both as well

I know this doesn't help with your cavitation issue- but here is a good article on cavitation (I do not have a link, I saved this a long time ago) It's the best explanation I've ever found.

and yeah, a damaged intake grate from landing on a log would transfer some of the impact to the pump shoe. it all makes sense now. its all coming back to me know, the man said, as he pissed in the wind.

got any pics of the damage? i fixed sakit2me's pump shoe with plain old clear 100% plumbers silicone. i hadnt thought of filling and building up, then sanding down and shaping with marine-tex until this thread, dammit!:banghead: :banghead:

the silicone has been fine so i guess it will stay till there cavitation happens. :dunno:

Meh...I just put the pump back in and inspected the shoe and grate. The stator really doesn't look any worse than it did last year, so I doubt I am getting major cav there.
The grate has some dings, but no damage incurred from that log that I can see.
The pump shoe has a piece missing between grate and plate, on one side, about 1 inch wide. Not much worse than it was before, but a little bit.
I caulked it up with black silicone. Plus, I sealed the midshaft carrier - which wasn't sealed at all before.
I'll put it back in the water tomorrow and see how she does.

Damnit! Now that you mention it, my pump shoe has a small piece missing, right between grate and plate.
I really don't want to have to replace that. It looks like such a bitch.
Will silicone in between the two stay there? (Regardless of the shoe being broken).

they really come out easy.mine took less then 10 mins after the pump was out. but if not damaged much what the hell.5200

Okay...so I just got back from testing. Runs great now, almost all gone. I guess I have a hard time telling now, which I didn't have before. IMHO, the situation is fixed to my liking.
Note that the silicone on the pump shoe came off. I guess I should have waited it for it to cure completely.
I'll try to redo that with Epoxy.
So I guess the culprit was a leaking midshaft carrier.
