hey guys. i've always wanted a jet ski, but wanted to wait since i'm saving up for a house. But i just read up that this will be the last year of production for the 800 sx-r. So tomorrow, i'm thinking of going to pick up a 2011 800 sx-r SE. But now, everyone is telling me that i should be going with a super jet, since i want to do freestyle. Is it true that i won't be able to freestyle with the kawi?? I've seen some tricks on youtube, but people are telling me otherwise. I live in canada, and i don't see any superjets for sale here. I also want to buy brand new. Should i be ok with the sx-r? or should i go to the states and try finding a super jet? or buy a rikter somehow.

Hope to hear back from someone, since tomorrow i'll most likely be going to pick it up.

Thx

Buy a 2011 SXR. You can do all the stupid fun chit with em stock and they rip. No flips or rolls, but no less than a stock superjet. And they handle better than anything.

cool thx,
To do flips, i'm guessing that i'll need a lighter hull? where's the best place to buy parts for these?

Blowsion is probably gonna be your best resource. They sell literally everything you need for freestyle skis like hulls, pipes, poles, and everything in between.

If you want to buy new than yes the Sxr is your only option up here...they have a steep price tag up here though, and you will never get close to it back if you ever try to sell it and go to a SJ.

If you have a budget to afford a new Sxr than I would seriously look into a modded ski from the states...you can get something setup really well for the same or less than a new Sxr from uphere and you will be much better off in the long run.

Or pm steveuk who is in barrie and see what kind of deal he can do on his Rok hull.

i've decided to hold off for now. I'm thinking that the superjet or Rickter will be more for me. I wanna do a lot of freestyle, and i'm thinking that if i buy the sx-r, i'll be eventually buying a new hull. So i mine as well do it right the first time :) I guess i should probably start a new thread since it won't be about the sx-r anymore. I'm thinking that i should buy a superjet, and maybe eventually, buy a Rickter hull, or just stick with the SuperJet

wise move, the SX-R is a big heavy ski
fast on the racecourse but not so much fun to freestyle

Exactly, I do like the looks of it though, maybe i'll buy it some other time :) But for now, i'm on the hunt for something light :)
I'm liking this forum over the others that i'm seen. You actually get replies here, kinda like the mr2 forum that i go to.
Thanks everyone for the replies, much appreciated.

:) I found a SuperJet. Might be sold, but i'm thinking it's still up for sale. I seen it on autotrader. It's in Sault Ste Marie, roughly 3 hrs from here. It's a 2009 Yamaha SuperJet with 6 hrs of use. He's asking 6700$. what ya think? i'm hoping it ain't sold. Then one day, i'd like to get a Rickter hull.

sounds a little pricey, but that is canadian $$, so what is that US$?
if you have no other options and want it
why delay gratification?

the canadian dollar is actually worth more than the american dollar. It would be something like $6800. It seems like he's also a dealer, so i'm guessing there will be taxes. I'm gonna see if he'll take 6500 cash.
