Dangit man I find myself wanting one!

You know honestly, when I ordered this last year, I did so just so I could see it right away, I wanted to try to develop some parts etc., ahead of time. When I first saw the pictures on line I was like yuck.... Seeing it in person, it is NOT nearly as ugly, it rides and handles really very good in stock form. (WAY better than the Kawi 1500) I am also surprised how light it is. (Again compared to what a tank the SXR1500 is) To me it feels very much like a 1100sxr. Weight, handling, etc. I think Yamaha did an excellent job, and I am now thinking I am going to keep this.....

It for sure needs steering (Just like the last gen SJ), it is cavitating the impeller, (We are making a scoop) and the mats are HORRIBLE! I am going to do a tune, RRP Role & OVP steering, Jet Trim Mat, some Graphics, and some other stuff. Stay tuned for more.

I feel I'm in the same boat as you John. I know its not going to be as good as many other skis, but I should be picking mine up soon and will do similar mods. I'm curious to see what it's all about and have one available for everyone to ride.
Looking forward to doing some real distance rides with it and go on more adventures. I wonder if it's any better on fuel than a 2 stroke Superjet.

It has a 5 gal fuel tank, and we rode it pretty hard for a couple of hours, and the gauge only went down 1 bar. Yes, I think it is MUCH better on fuel than a dual carb 701.

According to my documentation it burns more fuel per hour than the 2 stroke.

It'd be nice to have actual data. Like, upon refilling the 5 gallon tank, how much does "one bar" really represent? Also, what documentation shows it being more fuel hungry? Public documentation, or private data from your own riding? Thanks in advance.

I agree, and personally have NO idea...... Just saying how it kinda felt. The tank is far up in the nose, and you cannot see the amount of gas in it like a 2-stroke. I have no idea how much one bar is. I just felt like we rode it a lot, and did not use much fuel. It has been a long time though since I have had a "stock" 2-stroke SJ. My personal 2-stoke is a highly modded ski with dual 44's......

What does the pump look like (stator section)?

Have not had it out yet. I hear / have seen pics, that it has poor casting, and needs to be cleaned up. Not yet sure what we are doing with this ski, and I don't want to go grinding on the pump yet, if we would then NOT be legal in a certain class for racing....

I was more curious about it's design than its build quality. How does it compare to the 2T SJ pump?

Just an FYI, a local was able to source Carbon Fiber tubes that replace the OEM SJ handlepole tubes. Might be another option instead of going with full RRP pole.
