Busted gas tank..

Hey all,

I was out riding this weekend when my ski started running really crappy. I limped back to the dock and opened the hull -- gas was everywhere, and a huge chunk was missing off of my gas tank. I'm not sure what happened... maybe the tank was old and brittle and some of the impact from jumping did it in?

In any case, does anyone know where I can find a replacement tank? I've looked around and they're either $300+ for a used one or $500+ for a custom one. Are these really my only options??

I would try to find out why it happened? I have never seen one break unless something was impacting it or melting it.....even then dang hard!!

Yeah, I'm a bit confused about what happened to it.. The gas tank imploded on the top, so it's not like something hit the side and cracked it. I was thinking that the pressure relief valve was faulty, but I tried sucking on it a bit and it allowed air in-- so I don't think it was that..

I had one do this back around late February. It was almost like the change in temperature created a suction in the tank and sucked the top in. The tank being old and kinda brittle, the suction cracked it all over. Sucks!
