Broken exhuast bracket bolt, help me fix it

Besides me buying a B-pipe and not having to worry about this bolt, how should I fix it? I want to go riding on fri, so need to have it fixed by then.



Should I drill it out, find a larger bolt, tap the hole and put the new bolt in? I normally would have my dad here helping me on something like this, but he is on vacation. I need to fix it with stuff I can buy from a hardware store. Any help would be appreciated.

drill it out.. nice and slow.. use a carbide bit and buy some cutting oil.. start with a small bit and drill a nice hole in the center (pilot hole), then keep going up until the hole's big enough that you could tap it, insert a time-cert, and youre golden.. i think its a 21/64 .. i'm going off the top of my head.. could be wrong..

just be very careful if you decide to use a bolt extractor or left-handed drill bit.. if you break it off in there (and they do break often), youre in for some misery.

or you could take it to a machine shop and pay them $50 or so

or you could use 2 or 3 other methods to get you up and running for this weekend.. which i wouldnt post in a public forum! <insert strickys cylinder here>

just got through gettting a broken carbide bit out where my fuel tank staps to the hull of my superjet. finally an hr of using a pick and dremel got the bit out redrilled helicoil one size up retaped and done . it did take about an hour 1/2 didnt want to punch a hole in my ski. works fine now .becareful with breaking a bit it happens easyon smaller holes.

If the original bolt was coming out easy (I doubt it), you could try an easy out. Otherwise dont risk it and drill it out.

If you have a b-pipe coming don't worry about it. It's not worth the time you'll spend rigging it when your putting a new pipe on.

id be confident with just the 2 bolts. replace it if ya can, but if its a PITA, just run it till you get the B.

I'm not too sure if the bolt would have come out easily or not, I found the part I do have in the bottom of engine compartment. It was just there after my last ride. I need to get B-Pipe, don't really have the money until I sell my SXR.
