Broke Hoodlatch = Sunk Ski

Anyone run the beefed up latches without straps? Any problems when doing so (in the surf or BRs)?
I realise the bennefits of the straps but I would like to keep everything real sano. That said I don't mind spending $$ for the aftermarket latch IF it works by itself.
Otherwise I'll just fabricate some straps.

I think that would be better than just running the stock latch, but a problem I have seen happen (in pictures on here) is that the hoodlatch does not break.... it actually holds, but the hood cracks around where the latch mounts onto the hood. I think the straps are a good idea... I am trying to decide whether to run my blowsion straps I bought, or ratchet straps... the ratchet straps are super rugged... more like you would expect on a machine that you are going to beat the piss out of...

Those were Blowsion's straps they held up well for awhile but I will be going with two ratchet straps and a Blowsion hood latch. I will post up when I do this once I find straps I like all the ones I have come across are all metal and I am looking for the ones that have Rubber on them
