because maybe instead of bashing fellow riders you should be out riding.... no need to put down other people.

C'mon Jared....everyone knows I don't ride.

I wasn't bashing anyone for what they do - just saying it's not any more exciting to watch 10 flips vs 2 flips. That's all.
Backflips themselves are great - my favorite trick. I love watching surf backflips, and I love doing them.
But watching 10 in a row like a hamster in a wheel? Naw, not my thing.

This comment right here doesnt say that. matt, you shouldnt be saying something is boring unless you have done it... can you? they are a huge rush...

sorry, but it's not impressive to me at this point... maybe 6 years ago it was cool now it's not even interesting.. I'm sure they are fun to do. Hell, I was flipping yesterday and it's fun... Is it a cutting edge trick, NO. It's been around for over 12 years and not much has changed till Ross/Pierre stepped up and really started moving the flip forward.

Also, I don't think anyone said it was not fun to do, hell riding a moped is fun, but do you wanna watch some one do it??

It wasn't meant to a persoanl jab at anyone just that lack of progression in our sport..

have any of you ever done a flatwater back flip?

That has nothing to do with "Watching" back flips and having an opinion.

I also think it is boring to watch 10 back flips in a row.

It is impressive as hell that someone can get the timing just right and do them. But does not even interest me to see it. Now if I was riding with you and you kicked 10 backy's out, I would say do it again.

That would be amazing. Or even if they started doing different back flip variations... superflip, heelclicker flip, etc.

D-cut ride plate that would let the trim nozzle down enough, set up for a FW backy, and punch it...lol

OK, I'll go one further. Watching a bunch of people do barrel roll after barrel roll, and backflip after backflip in the surf also gets dull to watch. That doesn't mean they're not fun to do, or hard to do, but they get old quickly from a spectator point of view. Variations are cool no doubt, and watching something new is exciting as hell. But watching people so the same thing over and over? If you watched FMX and every came out and did the same trick, that would be dull too - however impressive the trick.

Our brains are designed to react to changes, and to tune out things that don't change (the way we tune out a constant background noise, or don't even notice the pile of dirty clothes if we walk past it often enough). Variety is what keeps humans interested, and 10 flips in a row is the very opposite of variety.

That's why the rodeo was so memorable at Nationals - one guy did it, and nobody had seen anyone do that in competition for a while. It was way more memorable than all the backwater backflips. Is a backflip harder? Debatable. Are they more fun to do? Maybe, but not according to Jeff's face. Is a rodeo more fun to watch? Yes, against a backdrop of all backflips, in the same way that a backflip is (and was) more fun to watch against a backdrop of rodeos.

Variety wins.

We are talking flat water BF , not surf BF. The flatwater backflip is not that old.

BTW - LMAO on that hamster vid! ...and the "analogy" of consecutive BF's compared to "hamster in a wheel"!!

Great throttle responce , hook up , skill and power to weight ratio, that dude is in the BF zone.

SXR-FOREVER

Finally Flippin
HA HA HA... that would make it interesting and add some skill to it since it takes no skill to do a flip... especially w/ a 10K motor... I think people in this sport think they can buy skill in the form of a billet and carbon, no that just makes you a poser..

damn it...so if I have a nice motor and carbon and still haven't landed a flip does that must make me an ultimate poser... I better get practicing!!!! haha

That song is played out just like the backflips. I used to rock out to that now I just change the channel when it comes on.... Its so overplayed now its lost its feeling and meaning too. Does anyone wonder why Jim is leaving the band after 20 years??

I wanna see a freestyle routine that has trick after trick with no wait between tricks, lets see old school and some new tricks too, ALOT of them! Its boring as hell watching someone trying 3-4 times to get a good setup wake for the "big" trick. You dont have to do backflips galore to impress me. Its not the type of tricks anymore, its all been done, its the AMOUNT of tricks that you can perform in your 2 minute routine.
