The stock heads use BR8HS with the shorter reach, most aftermarket heads take the BR8ES plugs which can usually be found for around $2.00 each, the BR8EIX plugs are between $7 and $8 bucks a plug.

I usually go through enough plugs for other reasons, that spending that much extra per plug to get longer life, just isn't worth it. Plugs are disposable, buy cheap! Buy in Bulk and toss em when they act up.

Gotcha. I dont pay for sparkplugs and I used to use the iridium's in my race bikes so I'd thought id give em a try in the ski. Good to know they work tho. Thanks

X2. Don't wait until they act up though. Think of how much you spend on your fuel and oil. Plugs are less than that. In fact, if you change your plugs every month or so you can monitor how your motor is firing and see any changes indicating rich or lean conditions.

Dang I maybe change plugs once a year maybe. Have never had a need to change them anymore.

LOL, me too. But I've always had near stock engines. Maybe once you start really screwing with the engines plugs get changed like underwear? I think my 440 still has the same plugs from 2, maybe 3 years ago. I keep an extra set around, but never needed them.

Once a ski is dialed in then I'll run a set of plugs a season but if you're messing with dialing in an engine or there was a reason to pull the plugs in the first place, I'll just change them.

I'm not saying you have to change them frequently and certainly once a season is usually fine. Just that an extra $4.00/month is not going to hurt so bad compared to all of the other money we spend on these.

I agree, I got in the habit of changing plugs in my sleds, nothing like wrenching on a machine at the bottom of a mountain, or worse, the top, because of a fouled plug. My buddies were always messing with plugs and belts on the hills, I just chose to do it all in my warm shop on my terms.

Now that I'm riding surf I feel the same way. Never let a fouled plug get you into trouble.

Those BR8EIX are iridium spark plugs and you can't even measure the gap without the welded on iridium tip breaking off. Not a good idea for the 2-stroke engines because of the excessive vibration.

I'd use the 2-Stroke racing plug with the solid tops if you're searching for something better than stock. They're made for racing and have a deep seated copper core with a wider heat range which is more resistant to fouling. Also they have the fine-wire center electrode which provides better sparking and enhanced ignitability.
