I just picked up a 90 SJ. It was on the way to work and i couldn't pass it up. I have been riding an 89 650sx with every possible bolt on. I rode an SJ tuesday and fell in love. It was a stock 91. It handles totally different, more stable than kawasaki.
So far i know the ski came with a huge folder of receipts and i am sorting out what all this thing has done to it. I am the fourth owner. It appears to have a substanial amount of work done to it. I will post pics asap.

I know the plugs are not good. NGK but what is the right one, not the same as kawasaki?

Shouldn't make a difference other than the non-resistor plugs can cause a lot of electrical interference and may cause your neighbors TV's some static when you go by...

didnt think you were being a dik, i was just letting you know what my manual says. i dont know if one runs hotter... i doubt it though bc i thought that the number on the plug represented its heat (br8 br7) but idk

I found b8es plugs in it. Can't figure out why, i know it is bored .040 over. What is the service limit on the bore? .080?
What plug should i get tomorrow?

b8es or b7es?

ah******** it could have been b8HS now that i think of it. I will get b7hs tomorrow. Have yet to ride it. I look forward to all the goodies and time this ski has into it. I did every bolt on you can to my 650sx and after $1200 invested i still think this SJ will be in a totally different league. can you put a one way valve in a 650sx?

I want to run my amsoil mix with premium 50:1 right?????? for the SJ

the b8es plugs are longer than the b8hs plugs.

are you sure the head on the ski looks like the pics in the links you posted?

Run the 8 plugs as suggested. That is the original plug. The 7's are hotter than the originals. And if you have a problem with fouling is the only reason to ever run a hotter plug. The more power a motor has the colder the plug you want to run so it pulls the heat out of the motor. Read up on NGK's website before swapping plugs out. There is much to be learned there.

********. I hope those long es plugs haven't wrecked my ski

the head in the pics is teh head on the ski, no mismatching here. they are in the ebay listing. Why would it have the ES instead of the HS???

The ES HS decision is simple take the plug out and look at the thread depth. The plug should match the thread depth of the cylinder. You can see the threads on the head pretty easily. I don't think the ES's will touch the piston but might be close.

Got some pics after my first ride last night. It was way past the sunset curfew but i didn't care, there was three or four wakeboarders out there so it was safe. I have no words to explain this ride, just unbelievable, the most fun i have ever had on the water and i only rode it for 20 minutes.

and the spark plug issue is resolved, I am an idoit, it was br8hs plugs all along. I must have been too drunk when i looked at them before and read ES, they had HS plugs in it, and that is what i put in. I didn't have any yamalube, so i just ran amsoil mixed more than 50:1 ~45:1 or so. BUt it run awesome. I am unsure of teh right ratio of gas/oil, any pointers?
