I have been collecting parts slowly and with winter pretty much here, I figured this is as good a time as any to start a build thread.
I had been searching for a local RN hull to build for a while and could not find one in the 5 state area that was reasonably priced, a brand new Gen1.5 BOB came up for sale for about the same as I was going to pay for a RN hull and aftermarket hood so I scooped it up. I know this is the least desirable BOB to own but it does have the setback pump and wider rails and has never been on the water so I am rolling the dice.
The hull is black gel coat, one of the last gen1's to be built, probably end up spraying it black after I finish cleaning up the air bubbles in the gel. The only BOB I have ridden was a gen1 and I had no issue cruising around on it for the little amount of time I did ride. The hull seems relatively light, but a bit thin, I was considering reinforcing it prior to building but that would require either sanding through the gel on the outside or the coating on the inside so I am going to ride it for a season and repair/reinforce as necessary. It could totally blow to pieces in the first few rides, thus the name BOB-omb.

I picked up a really cheap B1 to scavenge parts from, this will supply most of my hardware, pump, midshaft housing, etc.

I have:
XM adjustable comp. length pole
Stock 144 pump w/ Solas concord 13/17 -3mm and stubby cone
Cold Fusion battery box
Cold Fusion steering
RRP riser bars w/ Blowsion throttle
Couch mounts
Type 4 dry pipe, high rev chamber
Rad Dudes exhaust hose
ADA head
Home ported 760 with 61x cases.

I still need to get:
Waterbox

Looking forward to seeing this build! Should be good and interesting, doesn't seem like there's that many older BOB builds.

This is what it looked like when it left the Ski Clinic, the PO had removed all the graphics and turf and started to sand/fill the gel coat voids.

I was really just looking for a RN hull to chop up but I got sick of waiting for one right about the time this came up for sale. I could make it an ultra cheap build with a stock pole and exhaust but I wanted a handful of nice parts in it so next year I can swap it all over to something better. This is a total bargain bin build, the motor is a compilation of all the wrong parts, home ported by me, might dress it up with a shiny billet head. I want to put a Type 4 dry pipe in it but am afraid it won't fit.

I have a G1 bob i realy like it, only think that is missing too me is the adjustabel footholds.Tryede my buddys G3 and the footholds make a big difference, you can fit a type 4 pipe too it i have hade one on mine, i did cut a littel of the air intake tunnel on the inside off the Hood, not a big problem. Yours lookes like it dont have the front foodhold ??? I have one in mine a never uses it and it is in the way when mounting the ebox.I will bee mounting the battery too the bulkhead NeXT. If any questions feel free too PM mee

Yeah, I am going to try these for this season, probably modify them a little. Don't have a FFH yet, been bugging DK to get me one. Did pick up a pump shoe, Cold Fusion steering, and RRP bars recently. I think I have almost everything but a gas tank, exhaust and waterbox.

LOL, I haven't done anything to this but buy parts. I don't have a heater in my garage at the moment but plan to soon.
I will likely start sanding on it soon to finish the body work and fill the voids in the gel and to reinforce the inside. This will be pretty typical to most of my builds in that it will drag on with little progress all winter and then I will bust ass on it around March so be patient.

That hull looks like a good pickup. i would have snagged it over a sj hull too. Totally not trying to derail ur build thread, but wanted to throw out a BOB thought. I've ridden the G1 and G1.5 and G2 BOB's. My sole complaint with them is the inability to get centered over the mid point of the hull and bring the nose down so it wasn't tail standing as much. Once up to speed it wasn't that bad of a ride. Has anyone tried pushing the motor forward to get the CG more towards the bow? This thing was purpose made as a backflipper so its gonna be centered with the nose wanting to go skyward. Why not get some metal bar stock and mount to the existing mount bosses and drill/tap it to allow the engine to move forward 2-3". There seems to be a ton of forward room inside these hulls since the engine is setback. With that mod done throw a recessed front foot hold and the ride would be night and day diff.
In any case, good luck with the build and ur mods. Could be fun.

I didn't get that feeling to much on the one I rode but I am (relatively) tall and light. The front foothold is necessary IMO.
I am thinking about cutting the bulge off of the bottom, still undecided if that will happen this winter or next.

Been talking with sportfish about cutting the hump off mine. I think it would also make a difference in pushing the nose down. I kinda want to reinforce mine and ride it in the surf. Big aerials!!

I think this year will probably just be reinforcing, and general assembly to shake it down, next winter will be removal of the bulge, adding a set of destroyers and some adjustable footholds. Assuming it lives that long.

This isn't dead, just been broke having to buy some appliances and other house junk. I have 90% of the parts I need, really hoping to get this on the water this year.
I have installed the pump shoe, fixed a couple thin spots in the tray area and modified the footholds a bit to take up less tray space. I also weighed the hull (bathroom scale) and got 80lbs hull, pump shoe, breather tubing and hood catch and the hood is 10lbs. Re-assembled my ported frankenstein junker with a new crank. It took everything I had not to push completion off till next season and start chopping the hull up but I will save that for the winter.

Unfortunately it didn't look like that when I took ownership of it, the PO was unhappy with the gel coat finish from the ski clinic so he sanded the entire thing down and started doing bodywork.
